Originally posted by Baron Dants Ya, it's out of habit. If you think about it, pari kisher makes more sense as it is the adjective followed by the noun.
It's kind of like saying : doon keghetsig
Keghetsig doon sounds much better.
Anywho, I use both now, depending on what mood I'm in...lolLast edited by patlajan; 12-04-2003, 08:07 PM.

Originally posted by patlajan Uh oh, I would say "doon keghtsig" without thinking twice, the same way I would say "hos keghtsig". And who says the the noun should follow the adjective? That depends on the language grammar not logic. Right?
As for the adjective being placed before the noun, I think it's the common rule in Armenian, isn't it?

i'm not baron dants lol but since he ignored u...
arevmdahye and arevelahye mean western and eastern armenian respectfully.
back in the day, before the genocide, the Armenians who lived in today's Turkey (i.e. in aintab, marash, kilis, sassoon etc.) spoke and were considered arevmoudki hyes= arevmdahyes = western armenians. and Armenians that lived in today's Haiastan were arevelahyes = Eastern armenians.
and since armenians who lived in the west were the ones that got kicked out in 1915, they took their western armenian language with them to everywhere they migrated to.
and that is the reason today, only Armenians from Haiastan speak Eastern Armenian.
although persian Armenian is a mix of both, cuz there were Armenians in barsgastan even before the genocide.
I hope i've answered your question.Last edited by jahannem; 12-05-2003, 12:51 AM.
