  • How do you greet relatives?

Guys, do you shake hands and kiss relatives (male or female) on the cheeks? Or do you just shake hands?

Ladies, how do you greet other people?

For me, for my immediate family, cousins, uncles, aunts, etc it's handshake with kisses on the cheeks. For "other" family members I just shake hands. I used to have an aunt from my fathers side who always wanted to kiss us even if she was eating something. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww, gross!

I greet all people, relatives, friends, strangers, and enemies alike with a small bow and I say "Bow".

I must say that I am not a really touchy feely person, so I am a bit annoyed by the double kisses. Plus they take forever, because you have to spend like 20 minutes kissing everyone, which after your lips are need of a deep massage. I much rather say hi to everyone or shake hands, plus you don’t know other peoples hygiene. Also I don’t really dig how some parents kiss their kids on the lips, I adore these two little girls, and when they see me they run to give me many kisses which turns into a shower of lip kisses. Now that is a little awkward.

All males, regardless of blood, receive a handshake ( a good way to pass germs ).

Family relatives that are females usually a small handshake and the kiss on the cheek crap.

Friend females, a hug ( while you sort of feel their nice lower back ).

Yeah, I agree with the lip kissing thing. That's pretty weird. As for me I only have 1 aunt and 1 uncle with their husband/wives. So I don't have to go around kissing 23234 relatives. If it's a family gathering with my moms cousins, etc I just shake hands and say hi.

Indeed, but I truly think greetings are overrated, especially the rabies Armo godfather style handshake with the kisses on the cheeks.

Yes indeed. My uncle is like that, he wants to kiss and shake EVERYBODIES hand. It's funny at family gatherings, for 24234 minutes all he does is kiss and handshake.
