  • MLK Day

In honor of the late reverend doctor, post your thoughts concerning civil rights, civil disobedience, and peaceful demonstration here. By the way, there's a piece in the New York Times today regarding protests of president Bush's visit to the King grave today. How do you feel about this obvious political machination in an election year by a man who has continually defiled the legacy of Dr. King?

I disagree with civil rights, and MLK was a fraud.

        The Legacy of Dr. King...

        A good man...I guess

he's been given much more recognition than deserved.
        It's a cover-up to please the blacks,
and cast a shadow on the others.

That's a hateful remark. I wouldn't call them that. They are people like everyone, with feelings, desires, needs, and thoughts.

They are just mislead, victims of political systems, like most humans.

Well, this is what I disagree with when I say civil rights? What did they accomplish? What "rights" did they get? Affirmitive action? All it was, was just socialist movement in the guise of "civil rights". Socialism is a failure.

If it weren't for so much hate from these kind of people, it would work. How is civil rights comparing to socialism? Ur telling me that these people were wasting their time trying to have the same rights as everyone else? To live? To work? Yea, that doesn't seem like a waste for me.

                    Viollete, you misunderstood me.

I don’t blame you since Pasa's odd “humor” might have set the tone for my comment.

What I meant was that blacks have had leaders of far greater Caliber than Martin Luther King, who are not getting the recognition they deserve. Martin Luther King is more of a sugar coated picture, that’s why Americans denote him synonymously with the black social revolution.
