  • Why is life worth living?

"Why is life worth living? That’s a very good question. Well, there are certain things, I guess, that make it worthwhile. Uh, like what? Okay, um, for me, uh, ooh, I would say… what, Groucho Marx, to name one thing… and Willie Mays, the second movement of the Jupiter Symphony, and… Louis Armstrong’s recording of Potato Head Blues… Swedish movies, naturally… Sentimental Education by Flaubert, Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra… those incredible apples and pears by Cezanne, the crabs at Sam Wo’s... Tracy’s face…” -- Isaac Davis in Manhattan (1978)

Now, I want everybody to tell me why they think life is worth living. Like Woody Allen, I want some unique answers specific to you, besides your "family" or "significant other."

I think this could potentially be a very touching thread.

Life is a vacation from whatever we were before we were conceived and everything we will be after we're dead. If you think about it, 99.9999999999999% of the time, we don't exist as living human beings, might as well profit from this unique experience.

This wasn't meant to be some sort of existential thread, despite the thread title.

It's meant for everybody to share what they love about their life. In the case of Woody Allen in Manhattan, he shares experiences unique to him. So, what's special in your life? The point here is to have people share specific things they admire, instead of mentioning their career, family, or loved one.

Life is a huge potential,in matter of fact the stakes is so high that u confuse the real goal of it,can we make it to eternity from nothing?
Maybe the reality is that i have to stay alive so my genes can pass to eternity and some how in far future they will bring me back in life, cause i will exist in the genes of my future kids.
Here make a movie about my fantasy..

For me is Freedom of Flight.......anybody that doesn’t believe that life is not worth living can come flying with me and afterwards they will appreciate being alive like they never imagined before.

Wow. Did any of you guys bother reading the rest of the post? This is not a philosophical question. I wanted simple answers about what you enjoy in your life - art, music, theater, film, food, etc.

            Wow. Wow. Wow.

You're an idiot. I don't know the answer.

I was hoping for answers like the one above, such as "...the second movement of the Jupiter Symphony, Louis Armstrong’s recording of Potato Head Blues, Swedish movies, naturally…"
