Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

    i will kick this thread off with [drum roll]:

    Willow Smith and her terrible new song "Whip My Hair". so what if she's will smith's daughter? she's definitely just a repackaging of the now-defunct rihanna (sounds, looks, dances, etc.). btw, this song gave me a headache in less than one-third of a second. willow's a 9 year-old with the education of a 5 year-old (i'm being nice), using language resemblant of a text message, and with lyrics that don't even make sense. worse, she's giving life lessons to today's youth and the "ladies".

    i can see it now, with parents saying, "why is little vartanik/vartanoush so char? why can't he/she just focus on their studies, on the future, on doing paree things?"
    so dont tell me nothing, i'm just tryna have fun

    yeah, when i was 9 years-old, i definitely was looking to keep the party jumping i was also using my young mojo to convince adults that i had it all figured out and, if they liked my ideas, they should do as i do.

    well, i guess will smith was right... after the youth begin to "whip it" to garbage like this, parents just won't understand.

    My niece is seven and acts like she has the attitude of something out of mean girls... no matter how many Armenian role models she's surrounded by, the TV and her friends at school can't be beat. And yes she goes around singing the latest music even though she probably doesn't know what things mean... yet.

      like my grandma always said, "inch yeghav ays seroontuh?" just what you described above regarding your niece happened to me. i was "trained" in the states. this mentality, "no matter how many Armenian role models", was ingrained into me via (yes, you hit it on the head) media in general (tv, film, music, videos, internet) and my social environment (i.e. peers). they are very influential and will change your behavior on a subconscious level. the final bastion of hope lies within the family unit maintaining it's cohesiveness and realizing the threat potential of these seemingly-harmless ideas. it only becomes more of a challenge when today both parents are working, families are geographically more separated, and the elders are degenerating and becoming demented earlier which ultimately leaves the children being babysat by either the tv or a nanny who really doesn't care. it's just sad.

        maverick... schmaverick. although i usually refer to men as douche bags, palin takes the grand award (next to al gore) of douche baggism. why is this person even given an iota of a modicum of a quark of attention? because the public is absolutely retarded

                why would any real terrorist call in a bomb threat?! i think of all the purported bomb threats the media reported across the globe since 2001, and can remember only one incident which uncovered an explosive device (boots that require lighting excluded). just retarded.

                i'm not saying that they shouldn't secure the area and investigate. but, why is that news (i guess that's another BIG why question... media/news coverage/bias)? why does everyone in the world need to know about a sham bomb threat? it adds nothing to your life but fear.

                  as sarah palin was mentioned before, i'd like to ask a big why question:

                  why does anybody give two shets about bristol palin (or her dancing ability for that matter)?

                  she'll probably be a spokesperson for jenny craig or weight watchers after this gig... or pop out another baby fathered by either one of those douches the situation or michael bolton.

                    First off.....Holy sh!t, since when did Will Smith have a daughter?


                    Secondly WHY, WHY, WHY, must Armenians and other people of foreign ethnicity that live in America blame anything wrong with there kid on America or in Kanada's case, the general west? Kan, I have news, there are "mean girls" here, and there are mean girls in Armenia too. Even if Armenia had been in an isolated bubble since the 5th century bce, never having any interaction or connection with the outside world, there would still be "mean girls" there.


                    Third, I understand the republicans feelings with the current administration, but if they were going to want all us americans to vote for them in this upcoming election, did they really have to go pick so many idiots to run for them? I'm sure there are plenty of smart republicans out there, but prior ones like Ronald Regan, Bob Dole and even current prominent ones like Mitt Romney would have trouble recognizing their party today.

                    Sharron Angle, a Republican Tea Party Candidate for Nevada Senator, recently stated that two American towns had been taken hold of by Sharia(Islamic) Law, one was Dearborn MI, which some might say isn't too far a stretch as it's one of the largest Islamic centers in the USA, however there are no movements there to install sharia law.

                    The other city mentioned was Frankford Texas, a town that hasn't existed since 1975 and all that is left of it is a historic church and cemetery.

                    No matter what stupid statements this woman might still make, I fear that she'll still unfortunately be elected since so many people are mad at the democrats and they'd love to see someone like Harry Reid voted out of office. Hopefully she'll get some on the job training and/or get some decent, intelligent advisers
