  • Learning Farsi

    I plan on learning Farsi - it's a valuable language to know in Armenia and other circles. Anybody know of any good resources in learning - books, online ?

    Thanks.

        Your best bet is to get yourself a Paskahay girlfriend, or a Persian one.....if not possible where you live then consider a trip to Tehran.

          @Mos yechayr, you have to eat two portion Kebab Kubideh in the morging and ono portion sereshk polo in the evening. if you keep this strict diet for approximately two weeks, you will automatically be able to speak farsi fluently

            Damn... I had some koobideh last night, but no zereshk polo! I could have been fluent already.

              Thanks for the links. I will look into them, but I will also probably buy a book as well. If anybody knows any Armenian books in teaching Farsi that would be great, English ones will do as well.

              Haha, Well before that I would need to have the basics down, but my intentions in learning are not for girls, but practicality given the increasing contact between Armenia and Iran, Armenians in Armenia are forced to speak with fragmented English or with foot and hand with Persians, thus knowing this language would be of great benefit.

                I only learned the essentials when I was young...

                E.g. pool mikham! (I want money!) - This one got old quickly with my parents.

                I know a lot of words and phrases and can piece together and understand a good amount, but I couldn't construct a sentence to save my life.

                  I think maybe another one. I will try to see if I have it or I am mistaken.

                  Motehshekeram=thank you, old style Farsi, the influence into India and similar word in Egypt interesting:

                  Shukhran-Egypt=thank you
                  Shukriyah=Thank you (India)

                  Jun (Joon) pronunciated. (forgot what I think it means)

                  Khfaihsho=means "shut your face" =shut up. (I think this is the word someone told me. Hope I am right)

                  No, I do not know the "fun" words.

                    Copied and pasted with quote from their advertisement. Maybe they can find Armenian-farsi language books, etc. Hope this helps. You might want to try them if you haven't already.
