If you're going into biological science to study human consciousness, you're going into the wrong field.

what would you suggest insted?

Faith begins where reason ends. Science is limited, for human intelligence is limited. It is confined to the material world. It would stupid to go into a study of the material world, to seek answers for the immaterial. I would suggest anything except material science. Call it Occultism, mysticism, witchcraft, theology, gnosticism, whatever you wanna hyphenate, but please let's not pervert the biological sciences with something it doesn't deal with.
