With the broccoli I'll add olive oil and rosemary (hand-crushed) from the garden.

I love eating eggs for breakfast and i love them even more when i make them with basturma or sujugh. The spiciness and flavor from the meat goes so well with eggs. Around here it is not easy to find good basturma and sujugh. The big arab community here supplies most of the ethnic foods and the quality of the basturma and sujugh they provide is not good thus i have to look for the good stuff much of which is made by armenians.

Lol, you eat busturma and soujoukh in the morning? Doesn't it make your breath smell? If not, I'd like to know your secret.

I've only ever eaten this in Armenian dinners, and it's always been great

You eat it on a day you wont be getting into other peoples faces. Now i am earing matsun-they say matsun is good for you especialy if eaten before going to sleep. O and speaking of things that make you smelly in the morning-have you ever tried khash? I do miss khash and winter is the season for it. Besides the bad breath from all the garlic in it-khash has a bonus effect of rendering you drunk and sleepy for the rest of that day.

hmmm, I've never tried khash and don't really know what it is.

You know, I cannot help but to have garlic sauce when I have greek or lebanese food for lunch, so I usually brush my teeth (and especially my tongue) afterwards, but I don't know if this remediates the smells of basturma and soujoukh, I've never had to try.

                Re: Food

Khash is a soup made by boiling cow or pig feet/lower legg. It is difficult to prepare for the hair must be meticulously removed and the soup must cook a long time(overnight). Some people like to add the stomach to the mix as well. A large amount of salt and crushed garlic is added before serving and it is customary to do a lot of drinking while you eat. Dried lavash is added into the soup by the person eating it. I think khash was a way for people to use as much of the animal as possible during the winter when food options were more limited. Eating khash is a social occasion where friends get togather eat a lot of khash say a lot of toasts-get drunk and spend the rest of the day sleeping it off. I know this does not sound appetizing to most of you but it really does taste good and the social expect of it is fun to. If there are left overs of the soup it is then refrigerated thus turning into a gelatinous form which can be saved and consumed later.

                    Re: Food

I just chopped up some garlic, Anaheim peppers, Serrano peppers (not chopped) & sautéed them with morel mushrooms in olive oil & white wine for about 2 minutes + salt & pepper.
I'd forgotten I had these mushrooms & when I was in the grocery store today saw a small batch of them for sale @ $400 per pound. I'm so glad I went into the mountains and picked these mushrooms.
                    Yum.

Been a big fan of seaweed for years.
Just today, for the first time, I tried seaweed roasted with black pepper & herbs.
My personal food store will contain this food henceforth.
