I think the real question is "The handshake or the ass slap?".

I've never "hugged" a male friend like that. Maybe a one arm tap on the back while shaking hands or something. There's no need to have both of my arms around a guy. Just typing this makes me feel like Dan!

I try to stay away from all of that excessive touching and hugging. Mainly if you haven't seen a person for some time and at one time or another you've been close, it's probably ok to hug. The worse case is when it's one of your father's married-too-long-wanting fresh produce-but my wife is a hag-need to change my dentures friends, who pull you close and give you more of a "I am exploring the dunes of Sahara dessert" hug. And then look at you and say "My, look how you've grown", I am assuming the situation involving men and their mother's female friends uttering the same phrase can be quite uncomfortable as well.

LOOLLL!!! i can imagine how uncomfortable that must be... dont they realize tho, that along with growing up, u've grown smarter too & know EXACTLY what they're up to?? hehehe

i dont hug unless my mom ambushes me with one or im really drunk. the kiss-on-the-cheeks thing i get, as we all do, & im not particularly fond of that whole thing either. the handshake sorta does the job between guys, but its always just slightly ambiguous with girls.. do u kiss on the cheek? do u just wave hello? do u go with the handshake.. & if so, are u supposed to kiss it too? LOL
