Hey guys & girls, I've been listening to the soundtrack of the movie Mayrig, and it's amazing. So I thought I'd start a thread about the whole thing.

    Has anyone seen the movie?

I remember seeing it when I was 10 years old or so. I don't remember all the details, but it did leave a very big impression. I do remember the ending, sorta..

I want to see the movie again. I haven't seen it in so long... The soundtrack is amazing. Sent shivers through my spine.

    Share your thoughts on this.

I don't think Egoyan's Ararat is comparable to this movie. This one was much more realistic, I think, and if I remember correctly, it deals directly with the genocide and its aftermath. Or am I wrong?

                  Very good movie!
Starts with the news of liberation of Soghomon Tehlirian (the man who killed talaat in Berlin), and everybody rejoicing.

It then shows the life of an Armenian family who immigrated to France, and their adaptation to their new home. The genocide scenes occur as another Armenian immigrant tells them about what he witnessed during those desert marches.

I have shown clips of Mayrig for oral presentations at my high school. It caused many tears in the girls, and outrage by all the non-Armenians who found out about the reaction today of Turkey and the global community in general.

"588 rue Paradis" is the sequel of Mayrig. Also a very good movie.

By the way, for you english-speakers....is Mayrig available with english subtitles, or is it an english voiceover?

I think it's available with subtitles. From what I remember when I watched it, it was in French.

I also remember the part where they sewed the gold as buttons of their coats or something... is there anything like that in the movie or am I confusing it with something else?
