No, it is not the same. Just because I like the art that is made by a director or a musician does not mean I should care about them as a human being. I do not have an allegiance to them that gives me a feeling of being part of something I am not. Beethoven was an xxxxxxx but he had good music. The things is that. Musicians and directors are not competing like sports teams are competing.

I do it all the time.

Now you might say that that is more nationalism than fanaticism but it has to do with a love of the game just as much.
This was funny. I understand a hell of a lot more than you buddy, so relax.

I knew some little moron was going to bring this up. It is different if you feel cultural identity and want to see your culture be recognized in a worldwide setting. Would I chose one Armenian team over another? No. Would I, hypothetically, chose a spyurkahye team over a hyeastansi team or vice versa? No. There is a big phucking difference between cultural identity and running around with all your Lakers gear turning mediocre human beings into role models.

Another post by loseyourname attempting to minimize me to accomodate his insecurities.

If someone only talks about their likes it does not mean they like everything; it means they chose to discuss their likes. It is the same for discussing dislikes. You should find someone else to do the thinking for you because your self-reliant arrangement is not working out very well.

I still fail to see the difference in the two..you pay money to go to concerts, buy albums, go to a movie, buy a DVD just like you pay money to go to a game...or better yet you watch the game for free in your own living room
And who said anything about having "an allegiance to them that gives me a feeling of being part of something I am not.?" If anybody feels like that way towards a team then they truly need some friends who can knock some sense into them...some people watch the game b/c they appreciate and enjoy the particular sport..while others watch it b/c they like a particular team..whether it be a hometown team, school team, whatever.
Musicians and directors dont compete??? who are you kidding...then why do they have The Oscars or The Grammys???

I am not going to keep repeating myself. If you need to figure out a way to take a plane from A to C then do so. They are different because the intent of an artform is not to compete. You are being ridiculous. Who am I kidding? Oscars and Grammys? Holy shyt! You do not have a clue as to what you are talking about.

oh no no no... mobile phone would imply that they are moving from in front of their computer.

i think u guys are complaining because u like complaining & hating ppl because u love to hate.

if fans made absolutely no difference in a team's performance the word advantage would not be part of the expression home ice/turf/court advantage... it doesnt take a genius to figure out that a team is more likely to win at home than away. its not a HUGE difference, but enuf that its clearly the case.

& a game is incomparably more enjoyable to watch when u CARE about what the outcome is gonna be. dusken will obviously disagree with me on this, because thats clearly what he does best, but Darorinag, dont go hipocrite on me & tell me u wouldnt rather see philly whip the leafs' a$$...

how does the competitive nature of sports have anything to do with it being stupid to root for a team? there are different kinds of fans: the ones who understand the rules & strategies of the game really well, they choose which team they think employs these strategies best & root for that team until his/her preference leans more towards another team... which is fine. then theres the fans who like hoping the best for their home team, because the better the team plays, the more ppl will be likely to attend the games, which will generate more money, which will give the team a budget to get better players, which will win more games, which will attract more ppl, which will generate more money. dont we ALL want our cities to be generating more money? helping the economy?

orrrrrrr....nahhhhhh...... what am i talking about?? it doesnt matter who wins or loses..... as long as ppl get hurt & hopefully die.... right guys?
