  • Slipping Political Commentary Into Movies

Well, the most obvious I can think off the top of my head now is The Day After Tomorrow had horribly obvious political grandstanding, besides being a stupid as_s movie.
    Achkerov kute.

Nothing is more annoying that Bruce All Mighty. God comes down from the heavens and picks a total idiot to grant some powers to. And we learn that it just ain't easy being the lord. Boo freakin hooo. However I must admit splitting the tomato soup like the red sea made me chuckle.

Pat, I think what they were going for, even more so than the "ain't easy being lord almight", is that everything happens for a reason, even if you don't understand that reason at that moment, or never will. Don't know why the cut out that one scene where god goes through the different scenerios of some of the lives that Bruce messed with, and explains why while Bruce though he was improving the situation, he actually ruined everything.

I watched The Day After Tomorrow about 15 days ago, and I thought it was a dumb movie. It was full of propaganda about how good third world countries are, and therefore we should open our borders to them for immigration bla bla bla..

It's by far the worst movie of this year, even if you don't take into account its propaganda value.. I can't believe I paid to go and see that BS.

I saw the movie for free and I don't see how third-world nations were portrayed as being all that wonderful aside from the silly speech by the president at the end of the film. Heck, Mexico wouldn't even allow the Americans into the country (despite the fact that they faced imminent death if they couldn't get in) unless the US relieved all Mexican debt. Such a petty act of extortion is not a positive thing. Either way, that was a very small part of the movie, and I think it was meant to be ironic anyway. It was probably the only joke I actually laughed at.

The whole point of the movie was that speech at the end of the movie, loseyourname... the whole movie was made around it, to accommodate the propaganda it was supposed to represent.
