Aliasing in graphics usually refers to the jagged look of smooth lines due to lower resolution. Here I just meant "lower resolution" or "more blurred" so aliasing may not have been the exact term I should have used.
In the picture above, I have only resized that small section of the original picture with no other effects other than saving it again as JPG.this post = teh win.
