Ovanes for the first boy, and it would be cool because in russian it's Ivan, and it's my grandfather's name also. For the girl I would like Lilia or Sophia. I don't like very much armenian women names. They all sound like man's or like middle gender in russian: Anush, Anahit, Khnarik, Ashhen, Armine, Gayane, Karine...
My father gave me the name Achik when I was born, but there were some reasons and mama insisted on Anna, which is kind of russian translation of the name. My sister he named Anaida (or Anahit), but when mama insisted again he agreed for Nadya.

Hmm... I kind of like the shortening. It's better than having a name that can't really be shortened and having people attempt to anyway.Originally posted by Stark EvadeI like names that won't/can't be shortened.
Like Ani to An (On). wtf?

Knew a guy named Rami... maybe they just spelled it with an o?Originally posted by HyeJinx1984One of my aunts name is Romi. I'm pretty sure it's just a girls name.[COLOR=#4b0082][B][SIZE=4][FONT=trebuchet ms]“If you think you can, or you can’t, you’re right.”

I would expect that to be rare. Matthews become Matts most of the time. Jonathans become Jons. Roberts become Robs and Bobs. There is almost no point in having those names beyond official documents.Originally posted by SiggieHmm... I kind of like the shortening.
