    Sako, your Grandfather would have been called Sergei too, Seroje is a familiar for that name, (I have an Uncle Seroje) but English letters can't get the pronunciation, again!!
    Not in all cases. Some people are Seroje ALONE! They don't call themselves Sergei. My name has nothing to do with the these names though. I very much doubt they do.

    In Armenian, the name Sarkis means- protector, shepherd. The name Sarkis orginated as an Armenian name.

    From Latin "Sergius." Possibly means "servant."
    Are you sure about this Ara? My name is Sarkis/Sako, not Serge. Have you heard of St./Surp Sarkis? Not every name in Armenian has an English equivelant. The name Sergei or Serge has nothing to do with Sarkis. They are three different names ... all used in Armenia. My brother's name is Sergei (my Uncle's son). And Serge or Serojya was my grandfathers name.
