Omg sleuthy! I'm beginning to cut through the fog that is my memory!

What about Alenki Cvetochek? Russian version of Beauty and the Beast I believe. Russian cartoons had so much more heart and warmth in them. Sirtet qrqrum ein (in a good way).

And where was this from, "Alllllyoooonuuushkaaaaa!!!"

The little brother didn't listen to the big sister and drank from the lake, turning into a kazlyonok (right?).

And Snezhnaya Koroleva! Kai i Gerda...

Well, look what I've done, created an attack of Nostalghia, Any one seen the film by Tarkovsky?
I completely agree about Russian cartoons, all of the mentioned ones are great.
Anyone remember movie version "Снежная королева / The Snow Queen"?
I absolutely love it, damn, now I will not be content untill I watch it again

But what about more recent films:
            Russian Ark / Русский Ковчег
Дом дураков / House of Fools
            Возвращение / The Return
Poor Poor Pavel / Бедный бедный Павел
            The Stroll / Прогулка

I don't know too much about Russian films but Tarkovsky, Parajanov, and Sokurov are fantastic.

Только что посмотрел "Прощание в июне" - простая но очень приятная "студенческая" комедия. Этот фильм 2003 года напомнил мне старые советские комедии, которые я предпочитаю многим современным русским фильмам.

All the ones mentioned are good. No one mentioned "3 plus 2". All Mironov's movies are great. Jentlmeni udachi is really one of the funniest though (Sneg bashka papadiot, miortvii budesh) and Kin-Dza-Dza is something too.
