Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

    Favorite class?

    This probably doesn't really fit into the career forum but people talk about school in here so I thought it might be ok... The most interesting class I've taken so far has been criminal psych. It's creepy at times but it's pretty damn interesting learning about these things people do and how much the mind can just completely lose it. So who else has taken this class (and/or any other interesting classes?) and am I a weirdo for enjoying the class? (Hey it's better than statistics for psychology, which was just about the most boring class I ever set foot in).

    Well, throughout my younger years, my favorite class BY FAR was Math. I still love Math and enjoy solving problems, but due to my coursework, I only had to take one Math class. So I'm not exposed to it as much anymore.

    Other than that, my favorite classes in college have been Philosophy (took two courses) and this Culture and Health class, which explored the ways in which culture affected health. I most likely enjoyed this class as much as I did because of the professor, but the subject matter wasn't too bad either.

    As far as you being a weirdo for enjoying Criminal Psych, yea, that's what you are.

    Just kidding . I wouldn't mind giving that class a try. I always enjoyed Psychology (but not as much as the above mentioned.)

      Ha! I'm a weirdo? You just said you LIKE math. Hehe. Math is tolerable in my book... A means to an end. Culture and health sounds pretty cool. I bet it would tie in well to psychology too. Like if certain cultures or socitey's are more predisposed to having psychological ailments or something... I wish I could just do the interesting classes and skip the requirements. College would dfinitely be more interesting that way.

        Among all the math's I took in college, I'll have to say discrete math (math 61 for those going to UCLA) was the best. I loved that class. But most favorite class .. hmmm ... even though the prof sucked, I am going to say Algorithms (CS 180). After that quarter, they fired the prof and later on I found out through a friend that he was teaching in CSUN for a while
        this post = teh win.

          My favourite class was Applied Ethics. I also liked Human Anatomy (especially the labs, where we had to work on dead cats ).

            As far as the Culture and Health class, yes precisely. Culture makes you predisposed to having certain ailments, such as Armenians, stress, and heart attacks.

            And Amen to the "all fun classes, minus the sucky classes". Perhaps THEN I would actually do my homework. Brilliant! I've found the answer to my procrastination psychosis!

            P.S. My kitty has that effect. Don't stare at it too long, and if you do, don't blame me for the consequences.

              i have a long list of favourite classes-
              i loved psychology as a whole- not to mention clinical psychology and psychophysics- learning abotu the senses- eyes/ears/mouth.... and how these organs contribute and translate these motor reflexes into brain functions and into "neurotransmissions"
              i also loooooved cultural anthropology and philosophy and ethics... o and neurobiology

              soem of the classes im am totally interestd in now are socilogy of sexuality, criminal psych- i think im getting too much into criminology now, i might end up double majoring or taking it as a minor soon...

              i do liek math, weird because when i was younger i hated it, but i now miss it somehow- ... hmm what other classes? o well russian literatuer was fun, reading tolstoy, oblomov, eugene onegin, pushkin- io learned alot about russian culture in that class- and their lack of culture- lol anywhoo- i think that calls for another thread somethimes soon...

                My favorite class is the one when they told us when you come out of school you're gonna be screwed worse than you think...Oh crap that never happend now did it...That could have been useful information.

                  My favorite classes were all my marketing classes.

                  Where I learned such valuable information.

                  For example: A new marketing tactic-Where Advertisers/ people who work for marketing campaigns go on forums posing as regular forumers, and begin to talk about certain products, and how great they are.


                  Who knew?!

                  Another new one is doing the same, but in weblogs!

                    I love math. It's the most simple form of schoolwork among others. All you do is see the problem and solve the damn thing. If you know how to solve it, then that's it... you're done with it.

                    My favorite class that I had throughout all my years of school was a class called Armenian Diaspora Studies. I got to learn A LOT about the evolution of the Armenian culture and how it's evolving in the Diaspora as well. I got presented with videos and pictures of many desasters and celebrations in and outside of Armenia throughout the years and how that affects us as an Armenian people. It was a great class and I reccommend it to anyone that wants to know more about our culture in Armenia and outside.
