    dartarts means another year, or the turn of a year, dar is year, (d)tarts is turn... tsnund is birth like the church in armenia echmia"tsin" (tsin is the life that was created, the birth) you can use this word just like the word birth for saying something has been created or has been given life...

          i dont know if there is truly is a difference in the word birthday... like i said Taredarts is two words, one is year the other is turn, so in essence you are saying happy turn of the year, of course in english it means nothing... so tsnund is more correct...

          however the armenian language is so totally encompassing that so many things can be expressed that you can say things in armenian and for translating you have to change the words for people to understand...
