    !EEK!

I have not taken pictures of my paintings yet. And I must say I am not that great at it this far. But after taking abstract painting I realized I can be an abstract painter if I put my mind to it.

Anywho I dont have my paintings, but I do have a few of my printmaking stuff. Well, I finished these this week. Some of your have already seen it. Its a soft-ground etching process. Its the same image on the plate, but with different processes on top. Anywho...it would be nice if I gave some contractive criticism cause it would help me do even better prints.

First I want to say thank you, I am glad you guys liked them.

Second, I have to say I love printmaking. Its such a stress reliever. Even though your died tired by the end of all that work. But you guys ever get a chance take a printmaking class. If your professor is awesome, you will love it. I've been hook on it since I took the class 2 years ago. You will never really understand printmaking unless you have taken a class. Its one of those things where you have to be there inorder to even know what I'm talking about. I didnt even know what I was getting myself into when I took the class. BTW Jinx if you go to CSUN or need to take extre units take Printmaking with Sarah Whorf. She is the only teacher, teaching that class.

O and !EEK you do have corrupt mind. The guy isnt touching his butt. That plate was meant to be put there from the beginning. But once I printed the first image, I loved it so much just by itself. Then that green guy was put ontop of it so I would see how it would fit together.

Anywho, I have to agree !EEK is soo darn cute. That is why he is my little pumpkin. HEHE....

This sort of thing is called a metamorphic painting. And for that one, Dali, being not a particularly original artist (IMHO), just nicked the idea from stuff that was around 50 years earlier. There are quite a few of his works that reuses the same sort of skull imagery - there is one which is a photograph composed of a pile of about a dozen naked women arranged to form the shape of a skull (he had fun doing that photo-shoot I bet!).

I'll post some metamorphic images from the 19th century. There was quite a fad for them then. Since this is an Armenian forum I'll start with two with a sort of Armenian connection - they are of that nasty old Ottoman sultan Abdul Hamid.

Here is one of a skull. The mesage being, I presume, that even the youngest of us have death as their inevitable future.
