  • My vow to stop watching television...can it be done?

Just a few minutes ago I was sitting on the couch watch TV enjoying my Sunday. What I was watching was interrupted by a commercial, and 20 seconds into the commercials I realized I have no freakin clue what show I was watching. If it were a sporting event I would remember, so I assume it was a show or a movie or something.

I’m super busy during the week but if I can stop watching TV on weekends I would get a lot more done in my estimation. SO ! Much like the Seinfeld episode about being “master of your domain”, I’m vowing to stop watching television.

I think I’ll last a week or maybe even two…. If it was up to me I would just sell all the television sets, but that wouldn’t be a true test of willpower now would it.

It's really not hard. I stopped watching it and now that I sometimes catch a glimpse I don't even know what shows are on.

I have lost all interest in watching TV. Everytime I try to I get bored out of my mind. I watched Oprah two or three weeks ago. Ever since then I have forgotten about Television. Its not that interesting to me anymore. I rather read.

Once you stop watching, you will forget all about it and hate yourself for paying all the money for cable.

The internet has taken over the TV era.

OK I already failed. I watched 30 minutes of This Old House without even thinking about it. I love that freakin show.

Why dont you just think of something you can do every time you get the urge for tv? You know, like gum instead of cigarettes. Pick something you like and can do at any given moment. Maybe a book youve always wanted to read, but didnt have time or calling a friend or going to some place you like.

I think if you gradually replace tv with something else it will become easier. We are creatures of habit after all. Hope this helps and best of luck!
