Say there are 100 posts in a thread. 50 of them are off topic. When you tell it to split the thread from post 50-100. Post 50 is the first post in the new thread.
I'm confused by your question. I'm not saying threads are split automatically, it just automatically puts the first post we choose as the first post in the new thread.
