My friend (and drummer at the time) buys Zildjian symbols... They are made in Turkey, by an Armenian. Just because it says "made in Turkey" doesnt always mean it was made by a turk.

I was going to make exactly the same point - but then I remembered, I don't think they actually are made in Turkey. Wasn't there some sort of family inheritance dispute or something and the company split in two. I suppose its all available on the internet somewhere, If I could be bothered to search.

Now, there is a big difference about citizens of Armenia buying Turkish goods, as there may not be any alternatives to these products being offered, and Diasporans in North America and Europe buying them, where we can easily avoid buying those Turkish cookies (my friend, by the way, found a worm in one of them..lol).

Given that Turkey has put Armenia under blockade I'd argue that Turkish products should not be made available in Armenia untl the blockade is ended. Of course a population will always buy the cheaper and better products over inferior competition, but that is a personal choice - not a political decision. And I do hope that there are people in Armenia making investigations and plans in advance about an open border will affect Armenia economically.

But for someone in America to talk about not buying Turkish goods is nothing more than posturising - it affects no-one but the individual not purchasing a product, and does nothing positive to help Armenia and is hardly likely to hurt Turkey. And I'd doubt the sanity of someone who actually goes as far as destroying some of their possessions because they find out they are made in Turkey!
