Hi everybody, I am a New Yorker and I have never been to Los Angeles. But I am planning on visiting it maybe next week. So I would really apreciate if someone would help me out and tell me if there are some "must see" places. Or maybe there are places I better avoid? Just give me some hints on how to have fun in LA and not to get bored. Thanks everyone!
Where would I spend my time in LA? West Hollywood/Melrose, Santa Monica, Venice Beach and of course Little Armenia and Glendale!
Of course, you may prefer other neighborhoods!
PS. May I ask you where would you go in New York City?

nope, no subway no nothing... so yes, public transportation sucks. The best thing to do is to rent a car with navigation system.
Huh? Of course LA has a Subway. Do you live in LA?
For the less educated about Los Angeles Metro system, a map of our subway:
Granted, it's not as extensive as anything in New York but it will take you from Universal Studios to the beach to Downtown and back for only $1.37
Hey Magdalinka I think as long as you look online and have a sort of general 'map' or everything you want to do and where everything is, then you can use the subway or buses to get from place to place without many problems.

Everytime i see something about L.A. on tv its either earthquakes , sharks bitting someone or policemen chasing a car and the TV which broadcasts it , turn it into a show.
