You'll lose. They invented no such thing. Ford was first to build cars on an assembly line. No one person or company invented the car. The car came from about a hundred years of contributions from inventors all over the world. However in the later years, several French people and several German people were most directly responsible. I know none of this matters and you were joking but I have an attention deficit problem and I don't have a sense of humor.Originally posted by Thai-SamuraiIf gas prices go any higher I'm gonna sue Ford for inventing the car. Then I'll buy all the gas I want.

Your friend is right. However, the higher demand is causing a volatile and panicy market sentiment in the oil market. The crude oil dealers are scared and are jacking up the market prices. They are also reacting to more buy orders world-wide. How do you stop more people from buying a lot of oil. You increase the prices. Add to that the higher cost of refining the oil and voila. The best way to analyze where the problem lies mainly is to check out the prices of other oil products. They're all higher.Originally posted by LadySilverI was talking about this with a friend since I drive and I pay for my own gas. He said that he believes that we have all the oil we need. The only problem is that we don't have enough oil refineries. He mentioned something about it taking 20 years to get one approved. I don't know how much truth there is to that but it's just a thought.Last edited by karoaper; 09-07-2005, 09:35 AM.

Maybe it's changed in the last couple of years, but I've personally found New York to be a very nicely maintained city. Considering the population density and the amount of waste that is generated on a daily basis (there are Asian cities that can compare, and maybe Sao Paolo in Brazil, but nothing in Europe), it's quite a feat that they keep it as clean as they do. Don't be fooled by the high taxes, either. One of the reasons New York has been able to maintain its status as a business/commerce hub for the entire world is that the city gives huge tax breaks to businesses that locate their headquarters there. The local citizenry might pay a lot, but the legal entities that are hauling in the most dough do not.Originally posted by Siamanto- Properly maintained cities/streets. Despite high local taxes, New York City is so poorly maintained, I was not impressed by other cities neither.

Price gouging is a stupid invention of politicians, and it is ignorance of economics that continues to trumpet such mindless claims. Only people who do not understand the concept of a scarcity in the world would be for such nonsense.Originally posted by dddI'd say it's price gauging in some cases.Achkerov kute.

Yeah easy to say from one who has no car and doesn't drive...but I'll bet if the price of plastic love dolls and p o r n o mags doubled in a year you would be seriously crying the blues....Originally posted by AnonymousePrice gouging is a stupid invention of politicians, and it is ignorance of economics that continues to trumpet such mindless claims.
