There is no linguistic evidence to support the "Modern Ashkenizim come from Khazaria". Yiddish does not have anything remotely in common with Turkish/Tartar/North Caucasian. If it did, it would help a great deal in giving this theory and credibility. The only reason why it's taken seriously is because it was purported by a small group of xxxish Academics in Israel in the 1970s. It got published. It became a favorite amongst anti-Semitic, or should I say, Anti-xxxish groups (because they might have nothing against Assyrians, Arabs, etc... stupid label really) because it broke the traditional notion that xxxs came from Israel and thus, if the whole world learned about this theory and believed in it, modern-day Zionism would be even more clowny than it already is.
