Freud is hilarious. I think the majority of psychologists agree that Freud's only contribution to the field was his belief in an unconscious. I agree that he is quite entertaining though.

        • i know. and i love the way we was able to make his conclusions by simply convincing his patients that what he said was true. well, his patients were members of the nobility who had nothing better to do anyway. so how hard could it have been?

              Siggie,
Personally, I don't value much his work; but I wouldn't completely agree with your statement.
First of all, in the non Anglo-Saxon world where behaviorism is not religion, Freud and Lacan have many followers.
Second of all, even in the Anglo-Saxon world Freud's contribution is not limited to the concept of unconscious. It also includes
1- The Role of sexuality and the libido in the human emotions and its dynamics
2- The over-ego and a different understanding of neurosis. I admit that some of his ideas on the subject are rooted in the German Idealism of the late 19th Century. His contribution consisted in formalizing it and applying the model to psychopathology.
3- The concept of "psychoanalysis" and how it should be conducted. It is still applied nowadays, including in the Anglo-Saxon world where the resistance to his theories have always been the most intense
              4- .....
What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

LOL! That's exactly what Freud would have said!
Did you ever take a good look at her...?

                • Like I said, the majority of psychologists (scientists) ...
Many does not a majority make. I wouldn't count the folks that get their degrees at diploma mills either. CSPP, Phillips, etc.

Thank you for your recommendation. I have read Freud in my early teens. Nowadays, a mention to Freud is more symbolic, it does not necessarily refer to the person; that was also the case in my post! I thought that Stanford offered a higher quality/level of education! Maybe I should not base my opinion (of Stanford) on your case! LOL!

all i have to say is that it's too bad you weren't on the forum last summer. you would have gotten many kicks out of many more posts. hahaha.
                    Of course! LOL!
I have noticed that - considering your repetitious nature and the repetition rate- reading randomly 5% of your posts was enough to cover them all! LOL! I'm sure that, just like a broken record, you will repeat last summer's posts ad infinitum and ad nauseum!
Now, I'll leave you alone for a while because even after a day you became so fastidiously boring. Most of all "j'ai d'autres chats à fouetter!" LOL!

Yes! Many does not constitute a majority. Did I say that?
                      What I said still holds
1- The majority is only true in the Anglo-Saxon world where behaviorism is religion
2- Even in the Anglo-Saxon world his contribution has been much greater than what you have stated. My previous post id more detailed.

Please keep in mind that the world is not limited to the Anglo-Saxon views. The world is far more diverse!
