Ankap - Angry at the Mayans for a false prediction? POST YOUR GRIEVANCES HERE!
Yeah, it does look like it's going to get worse. It took me about 3-4 months to find a job. I applied for like 30 jobs and had only gotten 1 call back (their idea of researcher was different than mine and it only paid $18 ph). I was very disheartening and when I was starting to abandon hope, I got two interviews in the same week. Then I had a different problem to deal with because one offered me the job before I had my 2nd interview for the job I wanted more. The one I didn't take was in health care and the other was education. I'm a bit worried about lay-offs in the future, but so far, it doesn't look like it will come to that. If we get furlough-ed, I'll worry more.
Both made comments about how nice my resume was by the way. It looked nice, was in color, and was printed on heavy (32#) 100% cotton paper. It's an additional expense, but well worth it because your resume is a reflection of you. Even if they've seen your resume already because you applied electronically, you should take a bunch of hard copies to any interviews (take enough for panel interviews).
Good luck and stay positive!
Sig, I'm so sorry for replaying so late.
I think that is great advice. Plus I still have a lot of 100% cotton paper left from my thesis so I can use it for that.
I applied to a lot of places, and I got, "We have received your resume and feel that you are over qualified for this position...etc., etc."
But I have to say I have been finally living life again. FINALLY. I just need to feel my old self again. I'm working on it. Being a drama queen and crying endlessly about things I can't and CAN change, doesn't do anything but make me feel more depressed.
p.s Vegas was so awesome. And I love the beach! I can't wait for San Diego... need to go for the summer. Oh, and lots of museum going. =)
Working 6 days straight is not fun, when will this week end?
You like to complain a lot. When will it be Friday? Why do I have to wake up at 6? I have to work 6 days straight! Waaaaaaaa!
I can't speak for anyone else (though I think most everyone works for a living), but if I posted like this, I'd have to post every friday "tgif!", every damn day that I had to wake up at 4:45am to get to work, every day about spending between 2 and 3 hours a day in traffic, for the last 2 weeks that I've had to work at home in the evening, etc.
It's fine to vent now and then, but get some perspective! This shouldn't be like every post, otherwise you just sound really whiny.
If your largest complaint is that you have to work 6 days straight this week, then you've got it good and should be thankful.

Well this is an ankap thread & I whine about this because I don't feel like telling people my other concerns in life
