The way I see it (and you might not agree, which is ok) is that...

If you believe in God, you still see the coincidences in life, but generally look at things as if they were signs.

If you don't believe in anything, you're guided by your logic and what you see in front of you therefore looking at things as if it were coincidences and not signs.
