  • Computer Soundcards

Two people here were telling me what kind of soundcard I should buy, I forgot who it was though. I think one of those people was Lamb Boy - could be wrong though.

Anyway, to those two, and whoever else knows about soundcards, what kind should I buy? I can't get a new computer anytime soon, and I need to buy my new mic, so I think I'll just keep this computer and update to a better soundcard for better quality. What's good out there and cheap? My range is up to $150. I don't wanna spend too much on the card.

I heard the Audigy (or whatever it was) is pretty good, but someone said it wasn't. And I've been told M Audio is good, too. Throw some names and prices around. Thank ya.

And what's up with ace telling me AIM it depends on your computer?

My computer is pretty old, 5 years or so, but it should work. It's Windows ME. I don't know, I don't know anything about soundcards, someone clear this up for me.

Old Computers don't meet the system requirments that alot of new hardwares and softwares need. Your not going to find anything decent thats compatible with an old computer - and anything less than 200 is xxxxty as is.

          Same deal with condensor microphones.

An old computer is eventually gonna get in your way if your looking to find some decent quality equipment.

But as far as soundcard goes, for 150, get the Julia@ by ESI.

I still recomend getting the Emu though.

Nah, see, the condensor mics don't really matter. As long as you have the mixer, you're alrite.

You need a new computer to be able to take advantage of what a good sound card could offer. Plus, for recording it doesn't matter. Mic is all cuz that's your input.

^ I don't need it FOR recording. I should've said I need it to mix the songs, to hear everything better. Just make the overall quality better than what it is now.
