Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Ironically enough, there are all sorts of incidents of people killing each other, blowing up abortion clinics, invading other countries, etc etc in the name of God. When was the last time someone committed a crime in the name of atheism?

As far as evolution, I would direct anyone who "believes" evolution is a joke, to check out the IMAX "Deep Sea 3D" feature if you have a chance. I just recently saw it and WOW is it an eye opening experience. It is amazing how everything tends to adapt to each other when thrown in a mix to coexist in nature. I think believing in God created evolution makes faaaaaar more sense than believing God would be stupid enough to make EVERYTHING from scratch and get it to work the way it does.

A stupid God would have wasted all his time making everything. A superior God would have come up with evolution and just let life take care of itself and adapt to changing conditions. To argue for "creationism" instead of "evolution" is to argue for a dumb ass God since adaptability is a superior trait compared to creatures that remain static in a changing world.

Also I had made this poster with content mainly from the official holy etchmiadzin site, which now for some reason is down.

        Great post, Sip

etc etc in the name of God. When was the last time someone committed a crime in the name of atheism?
I agree. Atheism, or many other kinds of belief systems, too.

As far as evolution, I would direct anyone who "believes" evolution is a joke, to check out the IMAX "Deep Sea 3D" feature if you have a chance. That is a fantastic movie! No special effects movie even comes close to that... plus it is so much more.

A stupid God would have wasted all his time making everything.
His and/or her and/or its time. Perhaps still is making everything in ways--present tense.

A superior God would have come up with evolution and just let life take care of itself and adapt to changing conditions. (care of itself, and other life...)

I think it means that the Armenian Church traces its roots back to the time of the 12 Apostles and sees itself as being actually founded by several of them.
Although Saint Gregory the Illuminator is recognised as establishing Christianity as the official religion in Armenia, Christianity initially entered Armenia from the south, from Syria, several centuries earlier. According to a later Armenian tradition, the Apostles Thaddeus and Bartholomew travelled from Syria to the Vaspurakan (Lake Van) region where they baptised several members of the Artzruni dynasty. The medieval historian Thomas Artzruni wrote that when Thaddeus visited King Abgar of Edessa "the great Artzruni prince, Khuran ...was the first to believe in Jesus Christ and was baptised by Thaddeus". Because of this the Artzruni could claim to be the first Christian feudal family in Armenia. Both these saints were later martyred and their remains returned to Armenia.

You're a computer guy, right? What does the superior programmer do? Separately write the code for several billion different ways of solving varied problems that shift with time, or write a single genetic algorithm that can adapt to solve any possible problem in many different ways?

Exactly! Furthermore, evolution is the ultimate in object oriented design

I understand what loseyourname said, but I don’t know enough about computer programming to understand what you mean (the connection with evolution) with the programming jargon, ‘object oriented.' Can you explain a little?

Evolution--which has never been fully understood by science--ensures that life continues regardless of the conditions. I’ve often written things similar to what Sip posted earlier. Almost everyone who doesn’t ‘believe’ in evolution doesn’t understand evolution. I don’t mind the idea of ‘intelligent design’ (though not what is purported by the advocates of that, who I think are just trying to find a way to introduce creationism into public schools, under another name.) But, like I said, evolution is not understood by science--and there is much more going on than can be studied right now. “Survival of the fittest” isn’t a great phrase to describe the process of evolution.

"Survival of the fittest" isn't even a phrase used by evolutionary biologists. It was coined by Herbert Spencer, one of the early formulators of social Darwinism.

You made one of my points. Thanks.

Edit: Social Darwinism is an evil belief that usurps 'science' and transforms that into hate politics--survival of those with money (similar to how some 'Christians now oppose gay marriage, and once supported human slavery....)

If I may expand on this a little... It means that the Fathers of the Church now (the priests...but, I don't know what you call priests, bishops, ect in the AAC) can trace their ordination back to Jesus via the Apostles, that is that Jesus appointed/ordained the 12 Apostles to be Priests and they in turn ordained other men who ordained other men, yada yada yada, who have ordained men today. BASICALLY it means that this Church is proven to be true BECAUSE it can trace its roots back to Jesus, Himself.
