Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Re: do you like to travel?

I haven't traveled enough, as you can probably tell by this map:

Armenia: Alaverdi, Garni, Geghard, Oshakan, Sevan, Vagharshapat, Yerevan

Canada: Ontario (Cambridge, Toronto), Quebec (Montreal, Quebec City)

    Mexico: Baja California (Tijuana)

    Nagorno-Karabagh: Shushi, Stepanakert

United States: Arizona (Phoenix), California (Fresno, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco), Delaware (Dover), Maryland (Annapolis, Baltimore), Nevada (Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Reno), New Jersey (Newark, Paramus), New York (New York City), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia)

Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, New Zealand, South Africa and Tunisia remain unexplored.

      Last place? Hayastan. Where else?

Actually, that's not true. I was in Brussels later in the year. Not sure if that counts as a trip though.

Re: do you like to travel?

Last place I went to was Canada. Great time. I love traveling. Why wouldn't someone? It's always good to be in a new environment, be in a city or country, and be around different lifestyles and cultures.

My next trip will be in about one month from now. I'm going to Marseille, France for about two weeks, and will be spending about 3 days in Paris. I've been to France as a baby, so this will be my first time there. I can't wait, it's one of the countries I've been interested in going to.

Canada, though, was great. We went to Vancouver, and I loved it. First, it's beautiful. Their architecture, the buildings - great. The people were way nicer than over here. The weather was interesting, it rained when it was 80 degrees, then stopped after a minute. I loved it, I'd move there if I could.

Other places I want to visit is Spain, Italy, Rome, Armenia, and go back to my hometown Jordan, because I haven't been there for over 10 years.

Re: do you like to travel?

I just got back from a short trip to Milwaukee. I always negotiate price with hotels. I don't know if most people know they can do that.

The first hotel I checked last night was $149 (they were almost full). I got them down to $129, but said that's still too expensive. They said I could come back and the manager would give me a better price later on.

The next hotel down the road told me they had no vacancy. I was disappointed and asked the desk clerk for suggestions for another place. She said, "Well, unless you want to take a room with a maintenence ticket. The air conditioning doesn't work." I asked, "So what does that room cost?"

$35. "Yep, sure. I'll take that room." (I don't run ac in my house, anyway.)Turned out that the air conditioning DID work (maybe the last guest in the room didn't know how to turn it on and complained.)

So, I'm now going to add the "rooms with issues" to my creative travel-price-negotiation-toolbox.

I thought hotels in America were meant to be inexpensive?

At the moment I'm in Ankara - hotel is about $25 a night. No air conditioning but perfectly acceptable.

I was away for just over 2 months in total, so I got to see plenty of each city.
I was in Toronto for 3 weeks, San francisco 3 days, NYC 1.5 weeks, 2 days in each Philli, Washington and Boston. Vegas for the weeknd, San Diego for 2 days on the drive back from San Fran, stopped at santa barbara for 1 day, ventura county for 1.5 the rest of the time in LA. Can't remember if I left anything out.

Places I'd want to visit again in the states are San Fran and more of the East coast, want to go to Chicago next time.

I'll be down in San Fran in a few weeks, but that's hardly a trip, since I only live an hour north. My girlfriend's little sister is going to college there and we're going to help her settle in.

Lucky you, loved San Fran, in fact wouldn't mind to live there.
