I work at a office supply store called Creative Basics here in Yellowknife. A modest job as a the shipper. I am in charge of orders being shipped within the city, throughout the NWT and Canada.

I'm a, **sigh**, DJ. Just to make enough $$ to get to Cali. Luckily the gig I have now lets me do my turntablist thing and play some deep rare type of stuff. Not being forced to play top 40 is way better than most scenarios but still performing for 6hrs, or more, at weird hours lugging around a bunch of equipment ppl will kill you for gets old FAST. I just want a normal job, no more of this late night drunken crowd madness that I have to put up with. This is what I've been doing since I came here ...

"Hey man what was that?"

I say ... "The last song? That went like **la da dee da**" <- me carrying a tune

"Naww it was the cool one with the chick"

I say ... "I didn't play anything recently with a female vocalist"

"Man you know which song I'm talkin' about"

All this while I'm mixing in the next track and trying to keep up with retarded bar announcements.

Urrrggghhhhh I don't even drink so it makes it that much worse I suppose. I should clarify I do not drink at work. Plus I get paid peanuts cuz "everybody wants to be a DJ, everybody wants to be an MC", as De La would say, so the plethora of lame-o's who will do a worse job for free are more than abundant.

I like to play a rare groove then mix in the original and play around with it. Some ppl are like "Play TI, play TI" or whatever is hot at the moment ... pfftt
