Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • What Do You Think About Horoscopes?

I used to think horoscopes were the stupidest thing in the world.

My sister used to read them every now and then, but I just thought they were ridiculous. Recently, at work, I started reading some. Just the daily, based on my sign, horoscopes. And damn, are they interesting!

Not only do I relate to most of them, but it's also something that keeps me occupied. Of course I still don't believe they're REAL, but I do think it has some truth to it.

When the horoscope says my day at work is going to go horribly, it does. When it said I would meet a new love interest, I did. Some were ON POINT. A couple were totally non-related, though. It's interesting.

What do you think about horoscopes?

Well, I made a thread about this before and Siggie more or less destroyed the foundations of my belief, lol.

Still, I look for key similarities between people who are of the same age group and try to relate them to the year they were born... Sometimes if I know a close friend's personality well, if I find similarities of it in other people, I guess that they are born in the same Chinese year, and I don't remember being wrong yet because when I feel unsure, I don't guess.

Re: What Do You Think About Horoscopes?

Those daily horoscopes in the newspaper are very general. My uncle was an astrologer and once he made my zodiac map or whatever it is called. It was based on my birthdate and exact time and that should tell me all about my personality and life based on the position of the planets and stars. It did. It was kinda scary because it described me in such a way that I felt like God had written it himself.

I do like reading my horoscope in the paper on my birthday...it has a little summary of how's my new year going to be...sometimes it helps one look at a situation a different way, if you know what I mean...

Check this website out...they have a lot of info... http://horoscopes.astrology.com/

I usually check on MSN.com. I stumbled upon it because that's our default page at work, and one day, I was bored and was like, "Let's read some horoscopes." Althought some are very general, their horoscope's get detailed, too. I remember that one Sunday where it said work was going to be too crazy for me to handle, and it was going to be a real challenge. That day turned out to be Hell. Told me I'd meet someone at a party on some week in October. I did. Pretty interesting.

I don't really believe in horoscopes, but yea once in a while they seem to have some truth to them. But i think the only reason why they seem to be true to some people is because by reading them they are more aware of what happens to them that week or month. So for exmaple, if i prophetized that you will see a red car on sunday, and it happened, you'd probably think it was fate, or whatever you want to call it, but its highly likely that you would have seen a red car anyway... thats the best i can explain it lol

How can you "believe" or "not believe" in horoscopes? If I come and tell you "oh today some stuff will happen to you and keep your eyes open for a new thing", are you going to believe me or not believe me?
            this post = teh win.

I won't believe you because you don't have anything to back that up. Astrologers use complex calculation to come up with that stuff...even if most of the times sounds like BS, they have something to back them up...

Jen, here's the math I did to come up with that statement:

                  Page 1
                  Page 2
                  this post = teh win.

I get what you're saying. I do think a lot of people read it, and when something SIMILIAR comes their way, they refer to the horoscope. For example, mine said I'd have a bad day at work. Let's say I was to have a really horrible customer - I could just blame it all on the horoscope, saying it was true. I don't really take them that way. I read it, keep it in mind, and at the end of the day, see if I related. It's usually 75% accurate. Past few days, it's been off. Talking about marriage. I don't know, lol.
