My cousin died serving for Iraq. Unfortunately, they didn't have any compassion for human life and wouldn't tell you how they died. People were considered like sheep, and the amount of casualties were insignificant to Saddam. They had little kids running around looking for land mines.

With all that being said, people still lived a better life in Iraq back then. Today, the churches have been closed. The Homenetmen center has been taken over by Muslims: The Armenian schools are now mixed with Iraqi kids. No one steps a foot out of their homes at night. Within the past month, I know of three kidnapping/ransom of Armenians.

What are the alternatives? You can flee to Jordan but Iraqi immigrants are despised there and they will never give you a job

You can go to Armenia but finding a job there is equally as challenging especially when you don't know anyone.

The Armenian elderly is getting the worst of it because they may loose their pensions if they were to move and they are unable to get proper medical care that is vital in their last years. My grandmother also passed away recently in Iraq because of this.

Right now I'm very numb to what is going on in Iraq but I can tell you this. There are a lot of crazy Muslims running around causing trouble in Iraq. Maybe what that country needs is a crazy dictator to keep them all on check.

I agree. Remember the "hundreds of thousands" of deaths Sadam supposedly caused around the region? And now they can only get him on 148 deaths, ones that occured in 1980?

If you look closely at most presidents and most government administrations on earth you will find that they are the cause of the deaths of tens of thousands of inoccent people worldwide. Saddam's trial is a political circus. Altghough I don't like the man, nonetheless, I think he is as inoccent, or as guilty as his enemies. I don't think the US will allow him to be hanged. Washington DC might need him for a back-up plan, a last ditch plan to balance the growing Shiite power in the region. We 'might' even see Saddam back in power one day... We might...

A few weeks ago the NY Times had very interesting quote by James Baker, he more-or-less said: For many years after the Gulf War One (1991) I was asked why did I 'not' take out Saddam while I had a chance.... Ever since Gulf War Two (2003) no one asks that question anymore....

I didn’t know that Iraqi Armenians served in the Iraqi army. My mother’s cousin served in the Iranian army and was held hostage for three years, we had no hope to see him alive, his comeback was a miracle.
And what you told about armenians’ situation in Iraq saddened me and the worse is that a part of them are genocide survivors
