  • How About Me?

How to avoid revealing your name without seeming "unfriendly??" or "asocial??"

Sometimes, at Starbucks, the cashier asks for my name (the purpose being to identify the drink.)
At times, I reply: "How about U?"
Of course, the cashier understands it as "How about you?" and tells me his/her name!
With a smile, I explain that I meant the initial "U" and that I'm looking forward to hearing: "A <drink-name> for U."

At times, I reply: "Y!" (and make sure my facial expressions seem "interrogative!")
Of course, the cashier understands it as "Why?" and gives me an explanation.
With a smile, I apologize and I explain that I meant the initial "Y."

    At times, ...

    Any other letters?

PS. I believe that the above tells enough about me!!! After all, a good introduction!

What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

You have to be the strangest person on this forum. lol I don't mean that as an insult of course...

Welcome, even though I've seen you around already.

I was hoping for more pleasant words like "meow, meow!" It really hurts to be insulted by a total stranger!

Does it mean that you don't welcome those "you've seen around already?" In that case, I will avoid your sight as much as possible!

      PS. Thanks!

you gotta watch out now! some of those people have had their sense of humor surgically removed at birth! or been circumcised later on in life they won't 'appreciate your humor' as you had intended nevertheless, try, try, and try again!

              Thank you Miss Extra!
Let's see if you'll guess why I'm here?
              a) Summer being around the corner, I was shopping for an AC and found this cool "land of AC!"
              b) I was Extra Missing you at Hyefoorum, so I followed you here!

Is this how you talk about the members of this forum? Shame on you!

PS. I like the way you describe it; it's so true! I couldn't have said it any better!
Fortunately, I live in a quite tolerant and open minded neighborhood: I'm safe!

I thought that the kryptic words that I use would indicate that I'm from Krypton! I was wrong!
