    THE CIRCASSIANS: A FORGOTTEN GENOCIDE

    Circassian-Armenian relations
    • Janset Berkok Shami, a Turkish-born Jordanian writer of Circassian descent, wrote a novel about the Armenian experience in Turkey called Cages on Opposite Shores.
    • In 2007, Mehmet Sait Uluışık, a Turkish-born Circassian living in Germany, was denied entry to Turkey on grounds that he was a suspicious person. He was going to research on the Circassian role during the Ottoman Empire's genocide of the Armenians, as well as Circassian relations with other minorities.
