Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    POWER
    ********************************************
Because they couldn't get at our revolutionaries, they went after the defenseless civilians. This is an aspect of the Genocide that is covered up by both sides.
Our revolutionaries preached heroism (they still do) but practice taking care of number one (ditto). Which may suggest that “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” but not always in the same direction.
I am not casting aspersions. All I am saying is that sometimes the instinct for self-preservation trumps all other political and moral considerations. That may well be the secret of our survival.
As for our intellectuals: the very few that survived (Zabel Yessayan among them) were later betrayed to the authorities by another set of our so-called “revolutionaries.”
In their national anthem, the English sing: “God save our gracious Queen.”
We would be justified in singing : “God save us from our revolutionaries.”
    *
Moral I: Power means first and foremost the power to redefine words, and when power redefines words they end up meaning the opposite of what they say. As when freedom is redefined to mean the freedom to indoctrinate, intimidate, and enslave.
    *
Moral II: Even in the most benevolent leader there is a vampire who loves the taste of blood.
    *
    Moral III:
Without indoctrination and intimidation, a power structure collapses like a house of cards in a windstorm.
    *
    Moral IV:
If we are unteachable, it may be because we are eminently brainwashable.
    *
Moral V: When it comes to their own historic experience, both Armenians and Turks are denialists.

      democracies don't start wars;
      empires, do.
      kingdoms, yes
      fascists, certainly.
the wars of democracies are defensive wars against jihadists or bloodthirsty tyrants.
democracy does not have all the answers.
      nothing and nobody does.
not even our Good Lord -- even in Eden, there was a serpent (who some say was a CIA agent in disguise).

Typologically yes, but the reason democracies attack some jihadists and tyrants, but condone others suggests that they are only doing so to maintain their power and influence in foreign lands (basically like an empire, thus perhaps you should collapse empire and democracy into one category).

i live under an almost-american empire
and i prefer it to the soviet, ottoman, roman, japanese, and shaka zulu's...
and to console myself i say and repeat:
          nothing and nobody is perfect.
neither do i relish the prospect of an armenian empire...

I don't think you guys know much about democracy. The fact is from the day when it was first practiced to the present democratic forms of governments have been the most warlike of them all and the most currupt. In ancient greece the democratic city states were the ones that were always at war and it was usually a offencive war they started not the other way around. If you look at todays democracy it is the same xxxx all over again, The usa is in a constant state of war. This is no accident, it is the product of this style of government. No country is dumb enoughf to attack the usa so it makes up reasons to attack them instead. Weapons of mass destruction-Iraq war, 911-Afganistan, and soon nuclear weapons-Iran. All of the reasons for going to war are either flatout lies like the Iraq situation or self imposed "acts of terrorism" like 911. This form of government is responcible for more bloodshed then any other. Is this what you really want? Do you really think humanity is this limited?

              PROPAGANDA
              ********************************************
Understanding history has been a central concern of historians, metahistorians, and philosophers from Herodotus to Hegel, Spengler, and Toynbee.
What propaganda does in effect is to assert the earth is flat and it repeats this falsehood so often that millions end up believing it.
If it were up to propagandists, the work of countless thinkers would be buried and forgotten, or viewed as dangerous heresies.
The real aim of propaganda is less to misrepresent reality and mislead the people and more to moronize the masses by paralyzing the brain and perverting understanding to such a degree that a man who cannot even lead his dog to the nearest fire hydrant is glorified as a statesman of vision.
Had the Nazis won World War II, we would now have statues of Hitler, Himmler, Goebbels, and Goering in the central square of every city, town, and village. This may explain why Talaat is seen as a statesman of vision by some and our revolutionaries are glorified as heroes by others.
              *
We are divided not by truth but by lies.
              God does not divide.
              Divisions are the Devil's department.
              *
              Propaganda flatters.
That is the secret of its popularity.
It flatters the fool to believe he is wise,
and it flatters the murderer to believe he is a hero.

O boy, now its the god and the devile? Sounds like a good buddy movie you can watch with your democratic sunglasses on. Then you can vote at the acadamy awards which is another wonderfull and unbiased democratic process. These opinions being expressed are so americanized that there is hardly any objectivity in them.

                  consider the following scenario:
if the american president had been a sultan or a fascist dictator, what would have happened after 9/11?

churchill once said: democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.
i say therefore: count your blessings!

That quote is overused and obsolete. Had the USA been anything but a "democracy" there would not have been the need to creat a 911. A dictator does not need to attack and kill his own people to justify attacking another country. WW2 is a good example of the end product of democracy. Germany, england, france were all "democratic" countries yet they are responcible for the bloodiest war humanity has ever witnessed thus far. You label Hitler a dictator but the truth is he was fairly elected and maintained the support of most of his people pretty much the whole time. Stalin was a true dictator and despite being ignoremt and ruthless the guy made the soviet union into a powerfull empire. Only in a democracy can a proud country like the USA surrender to a foreighn entity (zionism) so willingly, this would never have happened in any other form of government.
