Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I don't think Western influence grew or shrank enormously. I think it's just the same as it was before because the Egyptian military is still receving the same billions of dollars it was receiving pre-revolution, no decrease or increase of salary The only difference between pre- and post-revolution Egypt is that people are now able to vent their disapproval of Egyptian-Israeli relations more openly.

Wasn't Gadaffi close friend of Putin? No wonder, the rebels will be hostile to him. Though when Putin becomes President he's going to be focusing on other things such as the Eurasian Union.

Gaddafi was one of those rare dictators that did not have any true long-term friend. The Russians just had nice deals on arms and oil with him. Did you see the amount of weapons just roaming Libya? As far as Libya and Russia are concerned, barring a change of heart by the rebel government, they are done. Russia made its choice. Now hopefully, it doesn't abandon Syria either. But with Putin's return, I doubt any more head scratching abandonments will be done. If indeed Libya was abandoned by Russia because some kind of concession was done to Russia as some claim, I wonder what it is? There have been many anti-Russian adventures going around these days which makes me wonder what this supposed concession or deal is.

Speaking of which, the rebels also announced no more weapons will be bought from Russia, they will turn to Western weapons. I love how they openly state these things, shows their political immaturity.

Where does Turkey fit in the pecking order?
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

Not sure if Turkey would get a major oil company in there given that its role was merely to secretly fund the rebels and not actually bomb the country but Turkey would be somewhere between the US and Qatar or after Qatar. But certainly on the top . ErDOGan has already visited the country.

Translated by Professor Sam Hamod, Ph.D.

Recollections of My Life: Col. Mu'ummar Qaddafi, The Leader of the Revolution. April 5, 2011.

In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful...

For 40 years, or was it longer, I can't remember, I did all I could to give people houses, hospitals, schools, and when they were hungry, I gave them food. I even made Benghazi into farmland from the desert, I stood up to attacks from that cowboy Reagan, when he killed my adopted orphaned daughter, he was trying to kill me, instead he killed that poor innocent child. Then I helped my brothers and sisters from Africa with money for the African Union.

I did all I could to help people understand the concept of real democracy, where people's committees ran our country. But that was never enough, as some told me, even people who had 10 room homes, new suits and furniture, were never satisfied, as selfish as they were they wanted more. They told Americans and other visitors, that they needed "democracy" and "freedom" never realizing it was a cut throat system, where the biggest dog eats the rest, but they were enchanted with those words, never realizing that in America, there was no free medicine, no free hospitals, no free housing, no free education and no free food, except when people had to beg or go to long lines to get soup.

No, no matter what I did, it was never enough for some, but for others, they knew I was the son of Gamal Abdel Nasser, the only true Arab and Muslim leader we've had since Salah-al-Deen, when he claimed the Suez Canal for his people, as I claimed Libya, for my people, it was his footsteps I tried to follow, to keep my people free from colonial domination

While some of his points on american way of life is true, I wonder if he really believed he did well for his country, i mean, we all know he's alittle insane, my theory he lied to himself everyday, for 40 years, and died believing that lie. Tragic really.

Gaddafi never really had a strong mandate. What is more he became unpredictable and started to alter his geopolitical alignments. Which is very possible, part of the reason why in the end the Russians and Chinese, agreed to such a ambiguous UN Security Council resolution. Either way, Tweedle dee and tweedle dum, backed the wrong horse. So now they will have to re-negotiate their bilateral agreements with Libya. lol

Apparently the NTC wants to establish a Turkish style, Islamist-Democracy in Libya. The NTC are also already talking about about acquiring Western arms and NATO will naturally be building a joint Airforce base in order to protect Libya.

Libya interim ruler urges NATO to stay till year-end

DOHA — Libya's interim leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil on Wednesday urged NATO to continue its Libya campaign until year's end, saying loyalists of slain despot Moamer Kadhafi still pose a threat to the country.

Abdel Jalil's comments, made at a Doha conference of military allies of his National Transitional Council (NTC), came a day after Kadhafi's body was buried in secret under cover of darkness after being displayed in public for four days.

"We hope (NATO) will continue its campaign until at least the end of this year to serve us and neighbouring countries," Abdel Jalil, NTC chairman, told the Conference of Friends Committee.

This request is aimed at "ensuring that no arms are infiltrated into those countries and to ensure the security of Libyans from some remnants of Khadafi's forces who have fled to nearby countries," he added.

The NTC is also seeking help from NATO in "developing Libya's defence and security systems," Abdel Jalil told the conference.

In Brussels, diplomats said NATO had decided to delay a formal decision to end Libyan air operations until Friday after the NTC's request for an extension and a Russian demand for UN consultations.

Time will tell how long it will take until Libya even gets close to the living standards that Gaddafi had provided for its people. Especially since NATO and the international bankers just robbed the country in mid daylight and in front of a world audience.
