Oh yes, he was very popular, unless you consider 85 percent insufficient.

US confirms its Libya ambassador killed in Benghazi

he US ambassador to Libya is among four Americans killed in an attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, President Barack Obama has confirmed.

Unidentified armed men stormed the grounds overnight amid uproar among Muslims over a US-produced film said to insult the Prophet Muhammad.

They shot at buildings and threw handmade bombs into the compound.

It has not been confirmed how the ambassador, J Christopher Stevens, and the others died.

Protesters against the film also attacked the US embassy in Cairo on Tuesday night.

In Kabul, the Afghan government gave orders for the video-sharing website Youtube to be closed to the public until the offending film was removed.

In a statement, President Obama condemned the "outrageous attack" on the facility in Benghazi, the eastern Libyan city which was a rebel stronghold during the uprising against Col Muammar Gaddafi.

"Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States," he said.

"Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi."

Mr Obama ordered a tightening of security at US diplomatic posts around the globe.

Libya's interim leader, Mohammed Magarief, apologised to the US over the killings, which he called "cowardly criminal acts".

Reports say a militia known as the Ansar al-Sharia brigade was involved in the attack, but the group has denied the claim, the BBC's Rana Jawad in Tripoli says.

With these revolutions the US thinks the Arabs ( and the Muslims ) will be in their pocket.

I think its more a case of the gini getting out of the pocket (bottle !!).

The US embassy flag torn down and replaced with a Islamic flag in Cairo the other day and this attack in Benghazi was orchestrated. As the Libyan security team in charge of guarding the compound seemingly betrayed the U.S. ambassadors location.

BENGHAZI, Libya � The U.S. dispatched an elite group of Marines to Tripoli on Wednesday following a mob attack that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. U.S. officials are investigating whether the violence - initially blamed on an anti-Islamic video - was a terrorist attack planned to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11.

Tuesday's stunning attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi poses a daunting task for U.S. and Libyan investigators: searching for the culprits in a city rife with heavy weapons, multiple militias, armed Islamist groups and little police control.

The one-story villa that serves as the consulate was a burned-out wreck after the crowd armed with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades rampaged through it. Slogans of "God is great" and "Muhammad is God's Prophet" were scrawled across its scorched walls. Libyan civilians strolled freely in charred rooms with furniture and papers strewn everywhere.

President Barack Obama vowed in a Rose Garden address that the U.S. would "work with the Libyan government to bring to justice" those who killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, information manager Sean Smith and two other Americans who were not identified. Three other Americans were wounded.

Stevens was the first U.S. ambassador killed in the line of duty in 30 years.

"We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, but there is absolutely no justification for this type of senseless violence. None," said Obama, who also ordered increased security at U.S. diplomatic posts abroad.

Republican Mitt Romney accused the Obama administration of showing weakness in the consulate killings, but the president retorted that his rival "seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later." Some in the GOP called Romney's remarks hasty.

The mob attack was initially presumed to have been a spontaneous act triggered by outrage over a movie mocking Islam's Prophet Muhammad that was produced in the U.S. and excerpted on YouTube. The video also drew protests in Cairo, where angry ultraconservatives climbed the U.S. Embassy's walls, tore down an American flag and replaced it with an Islamic banner.

But a U.S. counterterrorism official said the Benghazi violence was "too coordinated or professional" to be spontaneous. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the incident publicly.

The FBI was sending evidence teams to Libya, a law enforcement official said.

Filmmaker behind anti-Islam movie ‘not Israeli’

The man who produced the film, which is said to have led to the deadly protests in Libya, and became the reason for the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, is not a citizen of Israel, it has emerged.

Sam Bacile, who is believed to have written, directed and produced the two-hour film ‘Innocence of Muslims’, may not even be a xxx, and is using a pseudonym.

Bacile has identified himself as xxxish and an Israeli in interviews, but Israeli diplomats said they have no record of any citizen with that name, the New York Daily News reports.

“His name is a pseudonym,” said Steve Klein, a Christian activist, who says he was consultant on the film.

“All these Middle Eastern folks I work with, have pseudonyms,” he told The Atlantic.

“I doubt he’s xxxish. I would suspect this is a disinformation campaign,” he added.

According to the report, Klein insisted that everybody involved in the controversial film “Innocence of Muslims” was “an active American citizen.”

“They’re from Syria, Turkey, Pakistan, they’re some that are from Egypt. Some are Copts (Coptic Christians), but the vast majority are Evangelical,” he said.

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the Christian Coptic filmmaker behind the anti-Islam film Innocence of Muslims that has sparked riots in the Arab world, was jailed for manufacturing methamphetamine, according to a Daily Beast report.

Nakoula was arrested in 1997 and sentenced to a year in jail and three years' probation for cooking methamphetamine. He was sentenced to another year in jail for violating probation.

As protests erupted over the film, Nakoula introduced himself as 52-year-old Israeli property developer Sam Bacile of California, saying that he made the film with the help of 100 xxxish donors. Innocence of Muslims, which depicts the Prophet as illegitimate and a feckless philanderer was made, he said, because "Islam is a cancer".

However, research has found that the name Sam Bacile is not listed by the real estate agent licensing board for the state of California.

Nakoula is a dupe and no one actually believes that Hollywood is run by Coptic Christians and Middle Eastern, political exiles. The very fact that the films trailer was translated into Arabic and the cast of the film were mislead about the films nature, only implicates the spooks.

The Iranians certainly aren't buying it.
