Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • What would your decision be?

Each direction in life that a person ends up walking on, is based on a repetitive stream of decision making. We all have to make decisions, each and every day. These choices could be insignificant to our path in life (such as a settlement to wear the blue shirt instead of the orange), and yet, without any realization at all, these choices could make all of the difference in what the outcome of your day shall be. Perhaps the result of your simple and supposedly trival resolve to wear the blue shirt will score you a job that will upgrade your life considerly which might not have occured had you worn the orange shirt instead. Perhaps an individual would be so impressed by your composure and choice in outfits that he/she will offer you a job on the spot. Maybe, had you chosen to go the the restaurant on the left hand side of the street rather than the right hand side, you would have been robbed/murdered.

Whether the human is conscious of it or not, we each make decisions that shape and define this thing we happen to call life.

Now that we fully understand that these subconscious decisions of ours may indeed transform our lives into methods before deemed unimaginable, what are we to do when faced with a decision that you know will alter your path in life so severely that it might indeed throw you offgaurd?

It's quite uncomparable when dealing with subconscious life altering decisions and completely conscious ones, because when you are fully aware that your decision will in fact, transform everything you knew to be your "life" into some other mold, you tend to become paranoid and obsessive with the results of your decision.

Now, once again, it is unconcievable to compare the task of having to decide between two life altering decisions, and several. When one comes under the realization that they have multitudnal options where they must choose only one, and each single one signifies modification of your current lifestyle, this becomes a burden almost unbearable.

This usually creates an urge to complete a pro's and con's list. What are you to do, when your pros and cons seem somewhat equal in each option, because each alternative is something so drastic that you are unsure of the outcome?

When you could have a life of solitiude, or one in the city? Where you might live in an ultimately nonstop high temperatured environment or one that actually has seasons? When you must choose between living with your family that you don't get along with under any circumstance but in a new city where you have the option of meeting new aquaintances, or staying in a city where you have extreemly close and important individuals in your life but that you hate with a passion that offers no future? And what happens when the option to leave to a new city, is unresolved because the options for which city is to be your desination is multitudnous, and depends on the job offerings for your family? When the decision also creates a complication concerning which University you will have to transfer to?

What would you do, if you had to make this decision in five weeks?

Well, I can't say it ain't an interesting topic, but I am confused, are you asking what choice would one make given knowledge of where our choices lead?

Eh, basically what would your choice be? Move with your family or stay and live with your friends.

Well, it would be pretty difficult to decide, but given the circumstances I don't know. If my family problems were too extreme, extreme enough to never change, since people don't change, then I'd go with the alternative, but at present I find myself having difficulty accepting that since my family, even though a rough ride it's been, is tame now.

You are right in effect about how the littlest of things are based on the axiom of human action, as Mises described so beautiful in Human Action from which he derived all basic economic laws, and the memory of our past, and the decisions of today, all carry us toward an end.
