Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Turkey manages to displace 378,000 ethnic minorites

It seems Turkey managed to displace 378,000 more ethinically diverse people, this time Kurds.

    Key points:
"EU officials should press Turkey to take effective steps to facilitate the return of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) to southeastern Turkey, where Turkish security forces expelled hundreds of thousands from their villages during an internal armed conflict that raged during the 1980s and 1990s. "
    +
"When we checked Turkey’s figures on helping the displaced return home, the numbers proved unreliable,” said Rachel Denber, acting executive director of Human Rights Watch’s Europe and Central Asia Division. “Also, the bare figures don’t convey how, thanks to government inaction, villagers are returning to places that are practically uninhabitable.”

In southeastern Turkey, the government has failed to provide infrastructure such as electricity, telephone lines and schools to returning communities, and has not provided proper assistance with house reconstruction.

“What’s worse, the government’s paramilitary village guards are attacking and killing returnees in some parts of southeastern Turkey,” added Denber. "

"It is now 18 years since Human Rights Watch warned of the impending program of village destruction in a 1987 report during the conflict in southeastern Turkey. The Turkish army duly carried out its campaign with considerable violence, torturing, “disappearing” and extrajudicially executing villagers in the process. Human Rights Watch has since repeatedly criticized the Turkish government’s empty gestures in its return programs, issuing further reports in 1995 and 2002.

The Turkish state tried to cover up what it did, and now it’s subjecting the displaced to years of delay,” said Denber. “When EU officials arrive in Ankara, they need to put the problem of the displaced at the top of their agenda.” "

"Preventing torture is another area where the Turkish government seems to have run out of energy."

What? No Turks are afraid to argue in this thread?

I checked the news and Turkey still hasn't fixed the problems outlined in this article. All Turks are welcome to discuss these issues in this thread.

They're not afraid to argue, it's just that they're only concerned with the Armenian Genocide section and don't bother to venture to other parts. The only Turk who did so was TUR-Friend, and he's gone.

Well I think it's just wrong that Turkey continues to do such atrocities. They are literally re-enacting the Genocides of the Armenians, and literally continuing to deny that they are doing such things. In about 5 years they'll say, "No we didn't displace 378,000 Kurds, we had to make only 10,000 move away because they were enemies of the state."

I thought the Armenian Genocide was wrong. I thought the invasion of Cyprus was wrong. Turks don't seem to care much.

You're very right TomServo, all those things you mentioned are wrong. This is a good lesson; if someone doesn't care then they can make a lot of bad choices.

Of course in Turkey's example they cared a little too much, cared to have the Armenians out of Anatolia, of course. Not caring is when US doesn't send troops to Darfur or when Csarist Russia pulled out at the last moment from Van (after they had won it) and left Armenians to die. If history is a good judge, I think Turkey cared too much. IMHO.

no Turks here?.... i am here boys.... but there is not much to write because i think what you say is probably true... but as i told you before the world affairs are like playing "king of the hill".. no humanity no friendship.... as i can see todays governments are all mechanisms that are programed to achieve their goals no matter what... displacement of kurds is wrong? yes it is wrong... but the point is it is wrong for kurds and not for us Turks...thats the point... ring a bell?

so one must be strong or have strong friends to control the truth... i can write a lot of wrongs here about every country in this world...but that wont change a thing and you all know that... for example your international friends are just fooling you at the moment because they make other countries to recognize the genocide but there is none that forces Turks for anything.... they say " oh poor Armenians we are with you" or " oh poor Kurds we are with you" but that dont make them stop their investments in Turkey... so who is really guilty here?
