Finally figured out where the ascii numbers were thanks to your hint Moldy ... ty

Everybody should know and embrace ascii!! That part was simple but figuring out which elements are appropriate to manipulate and when is rather arbitrary (sp lol) ...

It's pretty fun overall ... I mean I rented the new X-Men game and I'm playing this LOL
