Yes - he said he would never die for an idea. I said the same thing. It also goes for people, countries, religions, all of them. All in all, they're ideas - well, maybe not people, but I explained separately why I would not die for a person except in an adrenaline-induced moment of thoughtlessness.

hmmm, well, it is possible 2 die 4 an idea, kind of. I suppose in our case would be for Armenia. Like, if the person was to go 2 war and fight to protect Armenia, then the person would risk their life for a country they love. That makes sense. To die for religions, now that i don't think ppl actually die 4.
You said, "he" He who? Did anyone say they would actually die for an idea? I didn't read the whole thread
      I see...

Many have died for religion and continue to. Muslim suicide bombers are an example.

Most of the time, I think there is some people you should live for, for instance your familiy, your better half, and your children. Simply by the mean of responsability or by the fact that your death would be too painful for your fellows.

If you think for yourself only, life sustained by curiosity (of what will happen next) is, for my concern, a simple trick.
If you're wondering about such a question, it is surely that your actual life does not fulfil your wishes, your dreams, your state of mind. But if you say that you can change this state during your lifetime, then you are tied to life: it's a vicious circle. I do obviously not believe in fate, my destiny is in my hands.

Perhaps we are going too far from the subject. Maybe we may answer it through the following situation. Imagine something like the Last Judgment, someone is telling you to choose (in a exclusive manner) between your life and something else. What this something else could be ?
For the case of an idea, if by giving your life you're sure this idea will be realized, why not. However, this kind of situation never arrives, and we see (historically speaking) that giving only one life to an idea is never enough. Giving your life for an idea, yes why not, it is very pious and respectable, but only if you're followed by thousands of people. In the opposite case, you'll learn to shut up.

No worry, I'm still looking for something to live for...

hmmmm, interesting, but i thought that is just the way they express their religion. I guess it goes both ways. hmmmm

Dying is not a big deal. Everyone dies! Concentrate on who and what you LIVE for, while you can!

Just my 2 cents on this topic!

Its not dying that makes me afriad, but how I may die that does. I dont want to die a violent death and I dont want to die leaving things unsaid.

You're right, but as someone who has realisticly/rationally thought she was very likely to die in the past, I must admit: I would not die for anyone or anything.

Maybe when I am married with children my answer will change...
