I don't recall EVER seeing 3 girls in PUBLIC kissing until the Madonna fiaso. I'll jog your memoryOriginally posted by Siggie View PostDon't pretend what you claimed that TV can have any influence on the human brain. That immensely vague and broad statement is vastly vastly different from the one you made, which was that the (over)representation of homosexuals on TV has caused an increase in prevalence of homosexuality.
Kissing might not be considered a "homosexual" act but it's still as queer as a 3 dollar bill. So if simply watching this act on prime time TV encourages behavior in adolescents then surely they experiment with other acts as long as they see that it's "cool" or "normal".
Huh?Originally posted by Siggie View PostIt's not like it was so long ago in the thread that anyone reading this would have forgotten exactly what you claimed, so they won't notice you COMPLETELY change what you're saying. No, no... that doesn't fly. You don't debate or win an argument by CHANGING your argument in the middle. That, my friend, is called "cheating" and "weaseling" and I don't think you want to be doing either, do you?
Your claim is more people feel free to "come out"
My claim is more people feel free to "be gay"

The posts in question are within the last half dozen posts...

Oh please... if you don't think TV affects people then you obviously don't get out much.Originally posted by Siggie View PostSo, let me get this straight (haha... straight!)... What you're saying is basically this? ' Too bad that gone are the days when we were able to shame the gays into the closet and preserve our delusion that an entire subsection of the population doesn't exist?'
Oh yeah... the two characters on Will & Grace totally made up for (and then some) the other shows that completely lacked any gay characters. I'm sure if you added up all of the characters to appear on TV in the last decade and calculate the percentage that were homosexual, it grossly overestimates that demographic.
Nevermind that the demographics aren't really accurate either because people like YOU make it so that people need to pretend to be someone else with regard to this incredibly fundamental aspect of their selves.
And what the hell is "acting gay" anyway? "I'm going to go act gay now by inserting my erect genitalia in another man's anus"? Is that how it's done?
Since you seem to believe that TV has these magical powers to change someone's sexuality then I'm sure you also subscribe to the belief that lack of average looking women on TV has made young girls think that they need to be supermodel thin to have value and to be beautiful. Right? Or is that where TV's power stops?
When you say "average" do you mean average by European standards or American standards?Last edited by KanadaHye; 01-06-2012, 01:12 PM.

Forget the TV ... I would worry about how many of us are going to turn gay by posting in threads with gay topics

Let me rephrase... growing up I don't recall people "acting" gay even though they were.
You watched Will and Grace? That might explain some things...

You know what ... I never understood it either. What is the big deal really? But then again, I don't really understand how people can spend their entire lives trying to justify religious beliefs either ... but still, in this day and age, you start a religious thread and it will go on and on and on and on.Originally posted by Mos View PostI just don't understand why those gays deserve 15 pages of discussion.
