Can guys and girls be friends?

Gevo is the only smart one here. Great Job Gevo. He got what the point of my post was where everyone else took it a different way and went on a rant.

I wasn't saying you can't be friends if you're not involved with each other romantically or sexually.

I was merely saying that you can be friends without anything happening, but that thought of sex with each other is always going to be there even if it's not pointed out.

Here's a true example of what I mean. I have a friend that I've known for more than ten years. Me and her have been the best of friends without getting involved with each other romantically or sexually. It just naturally worked out that we became the best of friends. However, I can GUARANTEE you that the thought of her having sex with me has occured in her mind. At least if not her, I've thought of it. So either way that thought is bound to come up in your mind whether you like it or not.

That's all I'm trying to say. Guys and girls can become friends, but the thought of sex is inevitible. It always happens, and anyone that says otherwise is bullsh!tting.

What if the girl...or guy, is really ugly. Is it still inevitable? Or does it not count when it comes to ugly people?

my opinions are changing a bit- but i still hold rue that a guy and a girl can be friends and not get involved, but if they do spend too much time together, its either gonna get romantic/sexual or theyre gonna end up together as a couple- they cant be JUST friends- one or the other is going to want more out of it, one way or another- but yet again i do have many guy friends who i can say i find atractive, but i wouldnt do anything about it- wouldnt date them or what not- theyre too good of friends and i cant see myself doing that- but u never know--

I have a friend who I've been friends with for more than ten years and am not involved with them romantically/sexually and wouldn't want to be involved with them like that. She thinks the same.

What bugs me is the guys I have interacted with who simply refuse to have female friends. Apparently, due to past bad experiences with liking those female friends and not having the feelings reciprocated, they can never be friends with a girl. Sillyness. I love my guy friends. They are great to have aroung you know when I need them to lift things and open pickle jars. ( Kidding...) I would never do anything to jeapordize our friendship as well as the friendships I have/have had with their girlfriends of the past/present. You settle into this almost brother-sister relationship but a lot more comfortable because you can confide in each other, comfort each other, kid around with each other, and have a buddy to go to the movies with, etc etc without people wondering what the heck is up with your Angelina Jolie loves her brother kind of relationship.

Well, i dont see a problem with ending up with a girl you are first friends with.. is this a problem? like i said, i MUCH rather start a relationship this way. but, this is not to say im in love with all my female friends, if so, then oh boy, i better vote for polygamy laws or something.. lol.. my best friend for over 6 years is female, and we have the friendship like aghchiggabig explained... good job..
