      • Hi everybody! This is my first post so here it goes...

Have u guys ever noticed that in every movie/tv show where there is a russian mail order bride...they are all named Svetlanna.

Anyways, I am completely against the whole mail order thing and also for bringing a girl from Armenia. First of all, how can you marry someone you don't even know. It's hard enough marrying someone you have dated for a while. Also I don't think it's fair for the girl too. I don't know about mail order brides, but I know lots of people who brought girls from Armenia and usually they treat them like slaves. They come here and they usually don't know the language, they probably don't have any relatives here, most of the time they aren't allowed to work or go to school. In particular, I know this one girl who lives with her husbands family and his sister, and she does all the work in the house and takes care of her kid and her husband's sisters kid and the mother-in-law doesn't do anything. I remember when she had her baby, we went to their house on the first day she came home and her mother-in-law was making her set the table and stuff while her daughter was sitting around.

Anyways, that's my view on it. It's wrong!

        • I wouldn't participiate in this, but I don't really care about the idea of mail order brides. Some people just really want to be married and start a family. Even this way (mail order brides). Go figure.

Are you serious? What kind of jerks are you surrounded by? What you said, is wrong, but isn't always like the with mail ordered brides or brides brought from Armenia (as you mentioned).

I hope you don't assume that it's always like that.

          P.S. Welcome to the forum.
          I see...

No of course I know it's not allways like that. But why do people assume that if they get a mail order bride or a girl from Armenia that they are going to be any better than the girls that live here (US). I mean think about it... would you buy a car without test driving it first??? Some people would but I think most people wouldn't. I mean were talking about a lifetime commitment and how can you just take a chance like that? I mean for me I wouldn't just settle with someone just to start a family. Especially someone I don't know. Who knows what kind of person they are. I guess I'm getting a little worked up about this issue because I am against the whole arranged marriage thing and this is remotely similar. It's kind of personal.

                • What's with the new trend of bringing women from Armenia? Do they think that they are "cleaner"? WOW It's always the same story:

A guy, raised here. Lives a life of bachelorhood. Turns 36, then decides that he needs a wife/maid/mother/vagina. He goes around the clubs, looking for a girl. He preys on 21-25 year old girls, who obviously throw up at the sight of his receding hair line. Then, he turns 38. With pressure from his parents, he is told by some dimwit that girls in Armenia are still pure, and not like the who0res from the states. He decides to go to Armenia, in search of his bride. He sees one, she sees his car, and they "fall in love". He phones home and tells his mommy that he found a beautiful innocent (17 year old), and stays in Armenia for 2 months til she's 18. Once legal, he has a $2000 wedding, complete with tents and park benches, and gets on the plane with his new wife in hand. They come to the states, and he throws her into the house to live with his parents. Accustomed to this lifestyle of slavery, she cooks, cleans, has a couple of babies, and thinks that she's living a good life. UNTIL SHE TURNS ON THE TELEVISION. OOOOOOOOOH she watches Armenian Teletime and sees these young women, looking nice, having fun. She decides to enroll in school. She gets a high school diploma at 25 and begins to work. With her new found independence, she decides that she's sick of the daily beat downs from her husband and all the chores. So, she leaves him. There he is, the same LOSER BACHELOR from the clubs, alone...with 2 kids....

You just discribed about 99% of all marriages in that situation. That's exactly my point.

Actually, I don't agree with what you just said. You think 99% of ALL MARRIAGES are like this?? WHy would you say that? I have like 2 married couples in my family who live with the inlaws. That's just wrong. I don't know any women who are like what I just described up there. I've just heard of stories about these loser guys. It's pretty sad really. The population of young people in Armenia is dwindling. tsk sk sk....
