    Amazingly, you must have seen me. Most people think I am dorky and have a big nose. Oh well. Ce la vis;
Unfortunately, that is only a perception. Yours may appear to you as "making a joke about someone in an open forum" and the other's "making a joke about someone in an open forum." That is only a point of view, a matter of opinion. Readings are subjective and almost never universal.
It's very likely that you've heard of Matthew's verse

Of course, in order to make my point, I had to exaggerate. As you know, I can be "acidic;" but, if you were attentive enough, you may have noticed that it was not my style at all - for two different "obvious" reasons. Actually, it was my anti-style.

I have psychic powers! No, I know how to read, analyze and make deductions.
What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

Your reaction suggests that you did not take it as a playful joke and I made sure you would not. I won't say how. Maybe, it was mean; but I thought that I had to.

        spiral,
Apparently we don't see it in the same way. I'm willing to honestly discuss it, only if you are willing to have an open mind and be honest. Though I believe you can, it seems that you have already made your assessment.
That is sincerely how I perceive Anonymouse - at least at times.

Lol I'm trying to analyse whether I took it lightly or actually got bothered. Testastorone is such a weird drug. I guess more than being bother I didn't want to be outdone by another guy. Being a male sometimes means to be very brutish and childish.

What I ment was that it's water under the bridge by the end of foruming cycle. In my next post I hold no grudges or animosity towards you. But I thought you made biting remark so in my brutish Armenian male sort of way I bit back. Doesn't mean I took your remark or even my remark very seriously.

Does this mean that the distinguishing factor between gossip, and ‘non- gossip’ is the sincerity of the perception/notion expressed?

It's not what I meant. I apologize for the ambiguity. I meant that my intention was not to solely discredit or mock; I meant that it was an honest - maybe wrong - opinion. Yes, the honest character is one of the elements that distinguishes gossip from non-gossip. If the intent is to discredit, mock, make fun or have fun at the expense of others it is gossip - unless both parties are willingly playing together or fooling around.

I think that even if it is impossible to always determine whether a statement is gossip or not, the following three factors - or dimensions - are enough to answer the question in many - if not most - situations:
A statement can be characterized by - at least:
1- The intent i.e. why the statement was made: inform, criticize, discredit, mock, have fun
2- The content i.e. informational quality and nature: anecdotal, verified, verifiable, direct observation, indirect information etc.
3- The context i.e. the sequence or circumstances where the statement was made: spontaneous, confrontation, playful exchanges etc.

                Do we agree so far?

I'm not sure if it is that simple. Is that explanation your "what's gonna be your saving grace?"
In some cases the Immune System develops an adequate defense mechanism and adapts the body to deal with the foreign nocive element. However, in other cases, the reaction may become more virulent with each new exposure to the nocive foreign element such in some allergies.

Though you articulate beautifully, you fail to excuse your stab at gossip.

Perhaps it would be more clear, if you could point out specifically, which one of your categories and sub matter your previous ‘non- gossip’ fell under?

My view on this matter is that there is no need for you to point out your perceived ‘negative’ behavior of anonymous’, unless, you are engaging in a conversation with anonymous, and feel the need to express your sincere perception of him, to him.

Your differences with him, do not concern anyone else, therefore there is no need for you to mention him, especialy in negative light, when speaking to others.

However, you are welcome to do as you please. I am merely pointing out that you are doing the same as you (recently) seem to often accuse others of doing.

I would hardly call it gossiping, since were typing in an open forum for all to see
