Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

People do not dislike Americans only because they attack everywhere and kill people to gain more power (oh sorry, you call it as war against terrorism )
But also people do not like the rising effect of the "American culture" everywhere. This profound and intellectual culture of America is surrounding more and more every part of the world with Hollywood films, Mcdonalds, etc.
In USA you are teached that everyone in the world admire USA, USA is a some kind of heaven, center of the democracy and civilisation, bla bla bla...
People also dislike this behaviour, stupid and absurd arrogance of Americans. You can not observe your own reality inside USA.
Unfortunately, our government is corrupted and addicted to power... but that doesn't mean all Americans agree with our government's current actions and motives (I definitely don't!). Anyway, every country has at least a bit of arrogance about itself, but I know what you mean by the US overdoing it. But, unfortunately, there aren't enough people who agree with you or me, or they don't even care! Hopefully, people will start paying more attention to politics, and we'll be able to stop this deformation of our government.

Lets just assume for a second that we all have the same deffenition of "Curruption"

What makes america a great country is that we are allowed to point out the things we have a problem with (freedom of speech).... this is the distingusighing factor about our government...

I have no doubt USA is one of the best countries in the world no questions asked.....

We voted for a Republican president (who we knew didn't like Sadam), we voted an all Republican Congress (back then).... the majority spoke...

But the point is "WE" voted...... and now we will learn from our mistakes and vote accordingly....

To tell you the truth, exfo, Americans are not taught that they are the best and they do not glorify themselves (at least from the education that I have gotten anyway-- they actually critisize themselves for all of the wrong things that they have done[not sure if this applies to all educations though]). Also, (for the terrorism bit) I don't like Bush and I never will and I do not agree with his actions or that of the US government. The way that our government is structured is very conservative. Smaller states (those with less population) have more power than bigger states if they work together(which they do). Furthermore, smaller states are generally full of very conservative (even reactionary) minded people. Thus the senators and members of the House of Representatives that are directly elected by the people are generally conservative to mederate in their views. These people (congressmen) thus, choose the president by count of their electoral votes (not by popular votes of the people--If a popular vote is won in a state it doesn't matter because it is up to the congressmen the whole time). You have to understand that most people in America really dislike the Bush administration (that's why the Democrats won the mid-term elections ) but there is nothing that the majority of people can do because most of the power in the US is split unevenly among the states. Most Americans are not the styreotypical image that others imagine and I think that it is sad that other people think of them this way. Personally, I really like Americans (even though I was raised in an Eastern European immigrant neighborhood and didn't speak a word of English until I was 6 years old). Most of them are nice and respectful people (even thought there are a few racist reactionary WASP people) and they are always nice to foreigners. And so what about American culture. If the others don't like it then they don't have to go the their movies or eat their food ect. it's their choice and they have no right to judge the Americans because they choose to accept American culture. The spread of American culture onto others is their own fault, not the Americans fault.

You really think that America has total free speech. I think that you are mistaken. Just look at Eugene V. Debs during the WWI era. He was a socialist and was arrested because of the Espionage Act of 1917 for praising anti-war sentiments (he was sent to jail for 10 years and lost his citizenship). Look at the Japanese citizens who tried to stand up for themselves during the WWII era when they were sent into concentration camps (Ex.= Korematsu vs. United States). Look at the middle eastern people who were held indefinitly in jail without trial (recently and even currently). Kind of sad, isn't it.

hmmm...what about Bush and the Florida scandal... do you consider the elections as being fair?

Americans have freedom of speech but did they protest the Iraq war? Who gave the right to Bush to invade Iraq just like that...I dont think Americans in general know much about the rest of the world...thats why even though they have freedom of speech they can only complain about their own country maybe but they remain ignorant towards the rest of the world... I think an egg on Bush's had was well deserved...

I care (I'm sure you'll agree if you read my essay in the General Discussion), but I'm too young to do anything drastic.

The first amendment has provisions that suspend freedom of speech when there is clear and present danger.....

                  enter the judicial system....

It's not perfect, but it's the best in the world.....period!

The best in the world!!! In the future I'm going to start a campaign for the republic of ARmenia to mimic the USA constitution.

I'm not happy about Florida...as I voted for Gore in my state..... but again the system is not perfect..... especially when it's that close..... politics had a lot to do with it.....

If Ralph nadar didnt run....that year....Florida wouldnt even have mattered .... It's politics.....

Americans didnt boycott the war??? Are you crazy??? Aside from half of congress oposing it...... half of our population was against it... its very complex im not going to summarize the US Civics in a few paragraphs for you...but after i graduated from college.... I realized we have the best system.......

When is the last time you read the constitution? The first amendment does not 'suspend' anything. It protects people's rights. The first ten amendments were implemented to protect the citizens and the local and state governments from being totally run by the federal government.
