PERFECT. I am coming to the conclusion that is what we Armenians need. Being viewed every once a while as "outcast". It has a normal reaction to embrace, retain and prolong being Armenian. Notice how Armenians from the Middle East extended and prolonged their identity compared to the Armenians that ended in European or "white" countries.

Are you insinuating that they were outcasts in the Middle East, as compared to, for instance, Europe? Do you really think that's why Armenians in the Middle East managed to stay closer to their Armenian heritage?

Scotts and Irish are pretty similar. They are both quite 'colorful'.

I find that really surprising about the Irish,,, Armenian, They werent racist to you in any way? Maybe your very tall and big and they felt intimadated...

Quite the opposite: I'm short, dark and sexy.

Their favorite hobby is fighting, getting drunk and picking on the small kid. Their also the most racist white people I have ever met, All they talk about is how they hate spicks, n((ggers, italians, and joos, constantly..

Yeah, that's just about accurate, except for the picking on small kids part. I don't know how Irish kids are these days but back in the 80s they were quite a fun bunch to hang out with.

On the contrary I also went to school with British kids and their some of the nicest and classiest people I have ever met, very unlike irish americans.

I never came across Americans of pure British ancestry in my entire life.

If you really consider yourself an Armenian, then god damnit you are an Armenian.

As far as Glendale, it's alright. It's not one of my favorite cities to live (too cramped) but the huge Armenian population definitely makes it very appealing. If I were to live in the area, I would much prefer the outskirts to the north and east like La Crescenta and Pasadena. Of course being able to afford living there is a totally different story!

Dude, I also grew up in an Irish neighborhood, perhaps NightOwl's neighborhood. I went to grade school with them, I went to HS with them. I have nothing but fond memories of them. The group which I hung out with was called "little shack". We were very close, we got drunk together and we got into trouble together, we played sports together... I also attended one of their "Noraid" functions where they did fund raising for Catholics in Norther Ireland. As a matter of fact, I was also present at an Irish demonstration against the British in NYC. They liked calling me the "Armenian terrorist" (terrorist was a cool title back in the 80s). So, in my opinion, all has to do with <<personal>> experiences of individuals.

And yes, not too long ago the Irish were considered amongst the lowest form of human life by the WASPs in America and they were often depicted as apes in British cartoons.

And yes I did notice this "Irish" phenomena in "White" America. The funny thing is that most are Germanic, Polish, Brit, East Europeans (you name it) yet they all like to identify with the small Irish percent in them. WHY? It is all over America from the Green Beer, the Irish pride, the Irish this and Irish that.... It wasn't too long go when the "Irish" were landing on the shores of this country the "Superior" Brits use to call them .... "An Irish is a Niiger turned inside out". It seams every establish group likes to make fun of the new comers to justify their own inferiority complex.

The only time I had a problem being Armenian was in grammar school, the whole school was mostly Irish, i got made fun very badly and was an outcast.
