great article i came across and posted in the lounge section but ill post it here for all to see too http://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/20...and-the-tiger/

this guy tries to find out why armenians are so good at chess
Thanks Ari. He tries to doubt some of our chess masters nationality, but in general it’s good article.

I like his post script: “Chess offers salvation, “because every pawn can become a queen.””

Thanks to God: at this point Armenia is the chess QUEEN, but alas she’s a pawn in the world politics. May the Queen help us to convert our pawn into a Rook/Castle.

And May God strengthen Peoples belief: that killing the QUEEN is not the only way of converting your pawn/country into a QUEEN.

      No. Team Pts.
      1 TURKIY 2
      2 EGYPT 2
      3 INDIA 3
      4 RUSSIA 4
      5 ISRAEL 4
      6 GREECE 4
      7 BRAZIL 4
      8 ARMENIA 4
      9 AZERBAIJAN 5
      10 UNITED STATES 6

As usual Turkey is the first among losers in intellectual games, even at “home”. I’m sure they regret the AG at chess competitions, silently.

Our only loss came against the azeris-i am sure they are celebrating their 5th place.

5th is too high for azeries and the Turks are in their usual place.

Why did they initiate organizing this Championship?
To show up the world their inferiority in intellectual activities?

I cant believe Aronian lost his last match to a guy ranked way lower then him. We should have had the victory by ourselves not tied with usa.

Aronian sometimes doesn’t play as stable as our former World Chess Champion – Tigran Petrosyan did. But I’m sure he can achieve the stability. By the way, his position was preferable before the endgame.

We made a draw with India not USA.

His lost cost us 1st place. This is not the first time he has lost to a lesser opponent after being ahead, i dont know what this guy is thinking.
